OP front-runner Donald Trump widens his lead in the nomination race, while Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz threaten to overtake Ben Carson for the number two spot.
Those four once again constitute the top tier in the latest Fox News national poll on the 2016 election.
In addition, Rubio joins Carson as the only candidates at least half of voters say are honest and trustworthy -- though Carsonâs honesty rating has taken a hit. More on that later.
First, hereâs how the GOP race stands: Trump remains in the top spot with a record 28 percent support from Republican primary voters. He was at 26 percent in the last Fox poll, which was completed before the last debate and the Paris attacks (November 1-3, 2015).
Carson drops from 23 percent to 18 percent in the new poll. Cruz and Rubio are both up three points and garner 14 percent each.
All others are in the low single digits: Jeb Bush gets 5 percent, while Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, and Mike Huckabee each get 3 percent. John Kasich and Rand Paul receive 2 percent a piece. (snip)

“Also I donât see Cruz making any moves in the national polls...heâs been stuck in single digits for months. So at this point, I donât like his chance of winning the nomination.”
So you think Rubbio is gonna win it all?
Is GOPe holding on to Rubio? Can’t see him as presidential material at all.
Didn’t know the guy even existed until this year. Kinda like obama.
No I don’t think Rubio is going to win it all...do you?
No, Cruz has the best chance of winning.
yep, over 100 million, goes along way.
Conventional wisdom say 4 tickets out of Iowa. This year is unconventional. I say 5. Huck and Santorum are previous winners. Who will they endorse when they drop out on Feb02?
Cruz will win Texas
Yee of little faith.
“... I would say that if Trump wins Iowa...itâs over for everyone else. Also, I donât see Cruz making any moves in the national polls...heâs been stuck in single digits for months. So at this point, I donât like his chance of winning the nomination.”

Welcome to Free Republic. I have always seen Trump and Cruz as natural allies in the battle against the GOPe RINO establishment and the Washington Cartel in general. Whoever wins Iowa is not guaranteed to win the nomination as history has shown us. Both Cruz and Trump have understood this informal alliance and have refrained from “going to war” against each other. Both candidates’ supporters (at least those who understand this natural alliance) have also refrained from attacking either of them. Of course, some supporters of both candidates who, IMHO, lack a good understanding of this mutual alliance and its benefits DO attack the other candidate at least mildly.
Both Trump and Cruz (AND their supporters) should go about the business of winning delegates to the convention. The two campaigns should take care to pick delegates who will not go squishy at the convention under any onslaught or FUD campaign by the forces of the GOPe (e.g., Rubio & Bush and their supporters). These constitutional conservative delegates can then do what is best come convention time.
I hope most Cruz & Trump supporters continue this understanding since to do otherwise ONLY benefits the GOPe and their ‘RAT partners in the Washington Cartel.
Really ..?? Why do you think that’s better ..?????????
Bump!
Yeah, I may be wrong, but given the way the media views him, best to consolidate his army, position himself with an unobstructed path to sprint to the finish- and then turn it on when they have no chance of stopping him.
It also shows what a good and convincing liar Marco Rubio is, a Latino version of Obama so to speak. He probably closely studied how Obama managed to lie his way out of his close association with evil men Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayersers, Frank Marshall Davis etc. and still win.
Makes me wonder about ABC polls. Most other nstional(and state) polls and the RCP average have Cruz in a strong upward movement, and Trump at much lower levels. The Reuters and ABC polls seem out of whack with the RCP average by considerable margins.
You just keep telling yourself that. In the real world, Cruz was at 18% in yesterday's NBC national polls. Was at 14% PPP, 14% Fox and averages 11.3% at RCP.
ABC/Washington Post national poll has him at 8%. He’s not at 18%...don’t get kid yourself. If he was it would show up in higher state polls. Besides Iowa, he is not moving up.
You listed three national polls and the RCP average correctly. I've no idea why Calisurfer relies totally on one poll -- the ABC Washington Post (which may not be as up-to-date as the others).
Cruz has undeniably shown positive, often significant, movement in every recent poll (including recent state polls).
Huh? I said Cruz will win.
