Church of God of Prophecy. Relative’s and friends went there and they invited us. Real fire and brimstone teaching. One of my mom’s cousins was a minister later on. Went to many different churches because people invited us. It was a very small town and my parents either knew or were related to most residents of it. I am not sure what the latter one is associated with now. The headquarters is in TN. My mom died in 2007 just a few months short of her 103rd bd. She never changed her membership from her childhood church which I believe was a Primitive Baptist church which was close to her home. She often told the story about going to Sunday church, go home, eat and do the chores and go back to church by horse and wagon. She also said she remembered going to church with her dad to pray for Titanic survivors.
She was the most inspirational Christian lady we were ever around. We never ever heard her say a bad word about anyone. We all miss her! Precious memories

I wondered if it had anything to do with Southern Mississippi.

The SBC has been standing firm. I wonder how long that will remain true.

The SBC is softening in barely perceptible, but alarming ways... NOW. Al Mohler, who used to be a stalwart, unapologetic defender of Christian doctrine, has been thrilling the infiltrating sodomites with his conciliatory, PC speech of late, most notably on his acquiescing on the concocted "sexual orientation" definition.

A lot of it goes back to the SBC bending over backwards over the past decade in a pathetic attempt to become a "welcoming" denomination, at all costs. Such a strategy is a death wish, because a lot of sound doctrine must be rejected to do so.

Well, so far our Baptist preacher is holding firm. Has been
at the church for several years. So far, female preachers
aren’t running churches here (at least, not in any numbers).
We’ve been going to this one for over six years; but if
it suddenly “changes”, I’m outta there. Husband can stay if
he wishes; but there are some things I won’t sanction nor
enable. - That said; support your Christian churches. One
day, if you don’t support them, don’t fuss about the
mosques blasting the Muslim call to prayer on loudspeakers
around your court square.

II did not know that there was even one Missouri Synod parish called “University Lutheran Church” in the US.

I just found a few on the Net.

The great majority of parishes with that name are ELCA, and even if they have conservative Lutheran roots, they are willy-nilly pulled into the “university” Zeitgeist, and become “gay-affirming”.

I am wondering where all these “enlightened” so-called Christians got the ideal that God was suddenly okay with homosexuality.

I want to ask them when God told them to ignore six thousand years of his Word saying don’t do this, it is a sin and an abomination?

This church will go the way of the Methodist, Episcopalians and Presbyterians, just into an oblivion of nothing and will become a social club where everything is accepted except for the real Lord God.

The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) has a campus ministry, LCMS U, whose mission is to support students, parents, congregations and campus ministries as they seek to bear witness to Christ on our nation’s college campuses. Any LCMS church, including those called University Lutheran Church, that are pulled into the “university Zeitgeist” and become “gay-affirming” would be doing so without the approval of the LCMS.

Rome needs to stand firm against female ‘ordination’ and get really serious about removing (suspending?) the queers from the ministry.

Rome recruited them during the ‘Springtime of Vatican II’...now it’s the devil to pay to get rid of them...

I asked them if they remembered my dad adding chocolate to his buttermilk when they and other ministers were at our house.

Take another look at those church minutes. If he wasn't thrown out for that offense, they really weren't so strict. LOL

Rome and its phony 1960’s Ecumenical Council testifies to that...and the current RCC is nothing more than a social club that pays lip service to worship...

and whose parishioners are only to happy to keep it that way...

Nah, my dad was not born until 1901 nearly a decade from the minutes plus it was in another state! He and those ministers were too busy talking for him to pay attention to what he was drinking! I really have some very special memories like that one, going fishing with him and his brother and picking wild plums and strawberries. Being fishing with him and his nephew who was married to my mom’s sister and my uncle catching an eel and saying it was a snake! My younger sister nearly drowning the same place. It is no fun being the older generation now at age 71. My kids, grandkids and 2 great granddaughters will not have those kinds of memories because my other daughter died in 2004, 2 years before my husband died. I treasure them.

I say “all”, because my mother is a missionary heavily involved in Charles Stanley’s church in Atlanta. Some of the stories she tells me when they do small group break-outs are absolutely astonishing.

Wife & I went one time about 4 years ago. Dr. Stanley ripped the imposter-in-chief and lo and behold, about 20% of the audience got up and left midway through the sermon. This is the kind of infiltration I’m talking about.

My church, very very conservative and traditional seems to have it’s WOF seekers attending weekly, along with a handful of those wanting their ears tickled, who just leave never to come back.

IMHO, persecution is coming to those of us who will stand firm. It’ll separate the tares from the wheat for sure, but we know the end game and who wins.

I am a bit pessimistic about it all myself too—very understandable.

I agree it’s very disheartening. All of this is fulfillment of scripture though, the great “falling away” that was foretold many centuries ago.

Calvary Chapel Churches are very Biblically sound, I would highly recommend visiting if you ever have a chance.
I’m sure there’s one in your area.

Heh, the “University Baptist” church near where I live has a rainbow painted over its entrance. Lots of churches that call themselves Baptist aren’t really.

I’d like to see a real church display a rainbow. The homosexuals would come in expecting glorification of their sin, but end up hearing what the rainbow really means to God, and what He really thinks of sin.

I know how it ends, but sometimes it’s difficult to keep my eye on that, while people around me are falling away. Especially when some of them are people I care deeply about, but am powerless to turn them in the right direction.

(What is “WOF seekers?)

I’m starting to believe there are A LOT less people saved than I ever imagined. Some of my own family have turned against me because I won’t compromise. Jesus said He was going to bring the sword and divide families.

WOF = Word of Faith (Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, TD Jakes, Rick Warren).

Name it and claim it crowd.
