HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -
A Baptist church in Hattiesburg that is self-described as "a different kind of Baptist church" was kicked out of the Pine Belt Baptist Association.
A written statement by University Baptist Church Pastor Dr. Rusty Edwards said members of the association voted to dismiss UBC from its membership on Tuesday, Oct. 20.
...
The statement specifically outlined University Baptist Church's decision to openly affirm the practice of a "homosexual lifestyle" into their church.
According to the statement, the church is listed as an "affirming" church on the website gaychurch.org.
The Pine Belt Baptist Association said that doctrine is inconsistent with the Baptist Faith and Message.

This was not endorsed by the SBC. The SBC broke ties with a church at their annual convention, because the church had voted to embrace homosexual marriage.
Ping
The Episcopal Church was doomed the instant they "ordained" a woman ... if not before that.
and the Catholics better start thinking about it.
Rome needs to stand firm against female 'ordination' and get really serious about removing (suspending?) the queers from the ministry.
The two seem to always go together — the women leaders and the homo stuff. I think once you decide you are not going ot obey God’s Word then you just start rejecting everything you don’t like.
I know. I have been SB for decades. Many of my ancestors were Baptists. I read the church minutes from a church ancestors belonged to. It was very, very strict and kicked out members for many reasons. I think the minutes started around 1809 and was in SC.
I understand that. Was commenting on a SBC in my area that had all sorts of red flags in the sermons.
All churches who are true to HIM are slowly being infiltrated IMHO.
It was on one site which I think was a tv site. Was first story.
Link still works for me.Let me try putting up the URL directly:
I guess that University Baptist âchurchâ is like all the âgay affirmingâ University Lutheran âchurchesâ around the USA!!!!
To clarify, this would not include Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
That's how it went down in the United Methodist Church. I have joined a denomination that doesn't ordain women as pastors. And I'm a woman. But I had seen enough of the feminization, trying to change the language of "God the Father" to something more "neutral", etc. Fuggedaboudit.
The “ordination” of women is sinful in and of itself, and puts you on a downhill slope towards accepting or affirming the homosexual lifestyle.
What denomination?
Witness Westboro Baptist.
Some in the church are talking about letting people who have been divorced and remarried to partake of the Sacraments again. Pretty soon we won't be any different than the Baptists in that regard.
Wow, that’s two “university baptist” churches that have been kicked out over the sexual sin issue, including the one in Austin, TX.
The "Purpose Driven" nonsense has infiltrated a LOT of Evangelical churches. My mom's was no different.
It's getting to be like a mine field out there, like nothing I've ever seen before. Even in a large city, it's hard to find a thoroughly biblically-based church anymore. Very disheartening.
Maybe the problem is my iPhone. It keeps diverting me to their main page. And when I search for the story, I only get a bunch of unrelated hits.
Meanwhile, I found the same story at http://www.wsmv.com/story/30365721/hattiesburg-church-dismissed-from-baptist-association-for-affirming-homosexual-lifestyle .
University Baptist Church (UBC) is claiming they were kicked out because they welcome everyone. That’s not true. The letter from Pine Belt Baptist Association states very clearly that it’s because UBC has publicly affirmed that homosexual behavior is not a sin.
Now they are really different than the association.
I don't know about all, but I would say most.
The SBC has been standing firm. I wonder how long that will remain true. When/if they cave, people will accept that it has always been thus, and it should be. It saddens me to be one of the few who know better.
Pardon my pessimism. I didn't get much sleep last night, and I'm cranky.
