Ben Carson has surged into the lead of the Republican presidential race, getting support from 29 percent of GOP primary voters, according to a brand-new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

That's the highest percentage any GOP candidate has obtained so far in the survey.

Carson's 29 percent is followed by Donald Trump at 23 percent, Marco Rubio at 11 percent, Ted Cruz at 10 percent and Jeb Bush at 8 percent. These findings are similar to a New York Times/CBS poll released last week, which also showed Carson in first place in the national GOP contest.

Actually, the ones I’ve met are all conservative Christians (Apostolic Christians). They like his modesty, talent, quiet strength and Christian example.

I hate to say it, but I think a number of people on our side just want to be able to say “Our negro is smarter than your negro.”

Well when Trump leads in virtually every state polled (NH, MA, GA, SC, NC, FL, NJ, VA, NV) in the last 18 days including the last two polls in Iowa, and I’m suppose to believe the liberals at NBC and Murdock who owns the WSJ? I don’t think so.

They like what they perceive to be his Christian example, but don't talk about his policies, do they?

Well, the most obvious one are his being pro- and anti-abortion; pro- and anti- national healthcare. But his worker visa remarks of late are also ambiguous at best.

Trump hasn’t sided with the criminal over the cop in Ferguson and he hasn’t said he and Sharpton have the same goals, just different ways to go about them.

I have read 3 of Trumps’ books, watched his live rallies, watched his interviews and read most articles about him and there are very few things he has said that I am concerned with.

I know without a doubt he loves this country and wants what is best for it and it’s citizens.

You were just declaring that Trump is saying one thing but his "spokesmen" are saying other things. So, when has Trump declared himself to be pro-life then pro-abortion, whether directly or through a spokesman? It's happening all the time, according to you, so should be easy to get at least 3 or 4 examples.

But his worker visa remarks of late are also ambiguous at best.

Only if you were ignorant of Trump's immigration plan.

Because nobody has seen any evidence of a Carson surge. No huge rallies.

There was a significant tidbit in the latest Iowa Monmouth poll that showed Carson's support was weak and thin with only 15% that are committed to Carson. That's not good.

I can’t imagine the pussycat Carson going up against the Sabertooth Putin or Xi or the mad mullahs. And that’s the lesson here: SECURITY TRUMPS EVERYTHING!!!

I would like to vote for Cruz, I am willing to vote for Trump - only if necessary, BUT I would sooner watch this country burn to the ground than vote for Carson — or any of the others in this race.

I just turned 67 years old and I have never ‘stayed home’. For me, it’s either Cruz or Trump....or I won’t bother to vote.

I sure miss my country.

The rise of Carson changes that. Carson and Trump are splitting different factions of conservatism, paving the way for Rubio to get enough traction to win. It won’t be Jeb. Jeb failed them as a candidate, but if they can switch to Rubio in time, he has more appeal than Jeb or Romney did.

Yes going to Wall Street Journal who are close to 10 on the 10 scale being Trump haters is a waste of time. As we see reflected in their bogus polling.

Same comment I’ve made in other threads. What has Carson done that results in this poll bounce? Virtually Every article about him is about his poll numbers, not his positions or speeches etc...

Check for yourself. Google “Ben Carson -poll”. That will return his hits but only hits that don’t reference his poll numbers. Let me tell you, it’s a very short list and not a flattering one.

I like the guy but either he is the first politician in history to not have to do anything in order to gain in the polls or his poll numbers are being messed with.

The Trump haters have only 88 days left before the first of the Primaries/Caucuses begin. They’ll get their jolt of reality, and we’ll see their misplaced confidences vanish as they face that reality.
