Same comment I’ve made in other threads. What has Carson done that results in this poll bounce? Virtually Every article about him is about his poll numbers, not his positions or speeches etc...

Check for yourself. Google “Ben Carson -poll”. That will return his hits but only hits that don’t reference his poll numbers. Let me tell you, it’s a very short list and not a flattering one.

A number of times you don't have to do anything, if your opponents go down, you might go up by default. George Allen Jr. says "macaca", and his opponent goes up.

Trump and Carson are getting the bulk of defectors from the third and fourth tier candidates (Fiorina, John Ellis Bush, etc.). Trump polls pretty poorly with women, and Carson does much better. The same demeanor and style that energizes Trump supporters turns off other people.

I do know that Trump, Carson, Cruz and even some Rubio supporters genuinely love this country and hate how Obama and Hillary Clinton have led the wrecking crew. Carson has circles he travels in, and he's been effective in those circles. They may not be our circles. His numbers have been pretty high (for a fifteen man field) for six months, despite the fact that the media had been avoiding him. They sure didn't call on him in the first couple of debates. He also has a decent ground organization, especially for a newbie.

Like Trump, Carson scrambles the conventional analysis metrics for the consultants, and the HRC consultants wouldn't like to have him as a candidate because of that.
