Just under 100 days out from the Iowa Caucuses, a new CBS News poll shows that Ben Carson has pulled even with Donald Trump there. For the Democrats, Hillary Clinton is three points up on Bernie Sanders. CBS News correspondent Nancy Cordes has the story from Des Moines.

Polls shouldn't be so far apart so what's up?

You get different results if you poll, all adults,of registered voters or likely voters.

Yeah but 13 points or 18 points difference? If that's the case they may as well not poll because the results are meaningless.

I thought Carson was up on Trump. Now he's tied. Does that mean Trump is now surging?

I'm so confused.

Join the club. I will have to say that I've thought for a while Trump's numbers are probably even higher so they can't really mess with polls without being out of step. However, this is pretty out of step.

Yes Kenny. What is up with that?

Those numbers showing Carson up by double digits are so baked.

That’s okay. I don’t believe it be Trump’s supporters licking their wounds the end of next week.

The Trump folks seem to have this dialed in.

It’s gonna be the Cruse folks who are going to be very confused when the Fiorina sets in.

What Carson needs to remember is that George Herbert Walker Bush won the Iowa caucuses in 1980, and then Reagan shook up his campaign, fired that idiot John Sears, replaced him with William Casey (who would later become his CIA Director) and the Gipper kicked that Bush-RINO’s ass all the way to the convention after Iowa.

Whether baked or not, how do you explain such different results? This isn't moe stuff, this is wild.

Even if you hate Trump (and obviously you do) I'd think you'd want him to get a fair shake.

The Trump supporters are engaged in the harvest and are unavailable to pollsters. So, those left to respond are the coffee time wives who are more inclined to be supporters of that nice black gentleman Dr.Carson. (Look up the meaning of coffee time in Iowa)

YUGE problem.

No Kenny, “baked”, another way of saying “cooked” or “worked over” or “fraudulent”.

I want Carson to get credit where credit is due.

This does nobody any good really. Carson’s campaign will wind up being hurt by this.

When his numbers aren’t gamed anymore, he’s going to lose all his support.

This poll at least has results that lie within the limits of probability. Upward or downward shifts of a few points incrementally are at least reasonable.

The other Iowa poll making the news is a multi-point complete flip-flop with no tangible factor(s) driving it.

Yes 13-18 point difference. Any adult and Registered voters includes significant portions of the 45% plus that never show up to vote at any time.

Likely voter polls are drilling down to people who actually plan to vote.
