Salon: Ted Cruz Hates the Constitution
Daily Wire ^ | October 23, 2015 | Hank Berrien

Posted on 10/23/2015 2:42:16 PM PDT by Isara

An obscure Louisiana State university professor named Sean Illing, writing for leftist rag Salon, attacked GOP presidential candidates for espousing their Christian beliefs at a Christian rally at a Dallas-area megachurch, asserting insanely that no one in the Republican party cares about the U.S. Consitution, including “star of the show” Senator Ted Cruz.

Let’s put aside the hilarious assumption that the GOP doesn’t care about the Constitution (we’ll get back to that) and focus on the charge that Cruz doesn’t care about the Constitution. Illing, an esteemed intellect who obtained his bachelor’s degree at LSU, then had to travel to the hallowed University of West Florida for his master’s degree (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, et al, were unavailable, for some strange reason) stated, “Cruz regaled the audience with inflated warnings about threats to ‘religious liberty’ in America. ‘Religious liberty is under threat as never before in this country,’ Cruz declared, adding that he would ‘not surrender’ on issues like gay marriage, no matter what the law or the general will or the Supreme Court says – because I guess that’s how it works in a democracy.”

Let’s pause for a moment to examine Cruz’s unimpressive academic and professional credentials:

  1. Graduated with honors from Princeton University.
  2. Graduated with high honors from Harvard Law School (The university of West Florida was unavailable).
  3. Served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist on the U.S. Supreme Court, the first Hispanic ever to clerk for the Chief Justice of the United States.
  4. Served as Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission.
  5. Served as Associate Deputy Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice.
  6. Authored more than 80 U.S. Supreme Court briefs and argued 43 oral arguments, including nine before the U.S. Supreme Court.
  7. Served as the Solicitor General of Texas, the nation’s youngest Solicitor General, and the first Hispanic Solicitor General of Texas.
  8. Won the case for U.S. sovereignty against the UN and the World Court in Medellin v. Texas.

Whew.

Oh, about intellectual giant Illing’s charge that religious liberty is not threatened in America?

In truth, the left is scared s***less of Cruz; he combines a fierce intellect with a willingness to go to the wall for conservative principles that simply terrifies them – and the Republican establishment.

Hmm. How about here, here, here, here, and here, just for starters.

In reality, the intellectual pygmy Illing criticizing Cruz, a man who was described by legendary Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz, a confessed liberal, as “off-the-charts brilliant,” for not caring about the Constitution boggles the mind.

In truth, the left is scared s***less of Cruz; he combines a fierce intellect with a willingness to go to the wall for conservative principles that simply terrifies them – and the Republican establishment.

As far as the charge that the GOP cares nothing for the Constitution, let us remind the self-satisfied Illing that it is the left that seeks to destroy the Constitution by resorting to the use of judicial fiat rather than the legislative process, as seen here, and suggested here.

The puny Illing finally concludes, “What you saw on that stage was indeed the ‘fruit of a harvest of decades’ of work, but it wasn’t God who gave Christians a greater role in government; it was the Republican Party who sold their souls to the religious right.”

Strange how that works; Illing slams the Christians in the GOP for being parochial, yet which party strongly supports the Jewish state of Israel? Which party’s Evangelical president, according to Bono, did an "amazing" job in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa? And which party’s president, who has mocked both Judaism and Christianity, stands idly by while Christian children are raped and slaughtered by ISIS and Jewish children on bicycles are knifed by Palestinians?

Give me Christians every time.

The debasement of logic and the debasement of language leads necessarily to the debasement of civilization.

because I guess that’s how it works in a democracy.”

"I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands"

To paraphrase Red Foreman - hey dumbass, at least know the history of your country.

And he is mean to little kids, and doesn’t like puppies. He once ate a live kitten too.

I heard he shot Bambi's mother.

The Constitution seems to be covered in some brown stuff, it got that way after Obama took it into the bathroom, and I don’t think it was to read it.......

I don't actually think anyone at Salon has ever read the Constitution, so you have to make allowances. Here's a way to tell: ask one of them where "From each according to his ability to each according to his need" appears, and if he says it's in the Constitution, he's a Salon author.

What’s there to hate?

The Constitution has been rendered useless and those acts of mocking the Constitution has resulted in the decline of America and whatever polite society that was left.

First to follow will be anarchy to be replaced by a form of right wing takeover.

Only misery will follow to those liberal pansies who are left standing after it’s all over. Shouldn’t take any longer than two weeks.
