Scarborough Accuses Kristol: 'You're Trying to Cover Your A--' About Trump
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/22/2015 6:09:14 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were among the first in the media, going back months, to take Donald Trump seriously. In contrast, Bill Kristol had repeatedly declared that we had reached "peak Trump," only to find The Donald confoundingly continuing to climb in the polls.

Things boiled over on today's Morning Joe. Despite a fresh poll showing Trump with an astounding 48% of GOP voters in Massachusetts, Kristol blithely declared that Trump "is not going to be the nominee." That elicited sarcastic laughter from Scarborough, who shot back "we can show you clip after clip after clip after clip of your incorrect predictions about Donald Trump and his imminent collapse." Later, Kristol seized on a new poll from Iowa showing Ben Carson having overtaken Trump. Claiming that "you guys have been overestimating Trump and underestimating Carson," Kristol said he was "just trying to be helpful." An exasperated Scarborough exploded: "you're out of your mind. You're not trying to be helpful. You're trying to cover your a--. It won't work with us."

I am going to answer your question with a question.
What has the GOP, aka The Uniparty done in the past 8 years that would lead me to think they would allow anyone to upset their little applecart?

Trump is not going to be the Republican nominee any more than Bernie Sannrs is going to be the Democrat. Trump could win every primary and 90% of the delegates going into the convention and the Party will find some way to take him down. Or take him out.

In the back of my mind I fear this is true. The only good thing is that the Republican party will be a corpse. But then again that may be the plan.

What a polite way to avoid answering a question.

Why not go back further and point out that assassinating Presidents has happened in this country, and it usually had to do with political reasons.

What pisses me off is the way certain activities are ignored by the MSM, definitely unAmerican activities like ignoring the will of the voters and turning a blind eye to those the press supports.

No matter how much we here detest the Scarborough Affair with Butterface Brezinski show

This assessment by the writer is pretty fair

Kristol is saying, if all the lesser people, those people still wanting to have hope for the "American dream," after having endured the pain and misery from the last few years of Bush and all the years of Obama have their way, Trump wins. But if the wealthy, the elite, the lobbyist and "true" powerbrokers have their way, Trump will end up with nothing but "what was I thinking?" and souveniers. Dream on Kristol and Bill Bennett(a truly "fat" cat)

"What was I thinking?" Like, when I voted for Romney? At least I could say I was voting for Sarah in 2008, not Captain McQueeg.

Mississippi (Cochran's runoff) was the last straw for me.

I saw this exchange live...Kristol looked very edgy...rocking back and forth. Clearly he was upset and frustrated, Not by the interview but by the fact that Trump is waaaay up in the polls.

I must admit...Trump has opened my eyes a whole lot to the tremendous gulf between myself and other republicans and the GOPe. I truly didn't realize just how big the gulf was between their goals and mine. Now I know they really actually don't care very much about the lesser people, which was the sentiment of Karl Marx.

“Kristol appears to be unhinged these days. He and Bill Bennett and Hugh Hewitt are right there as well.”

And don’t forget Michael Medved, who leads that pack of weasels.

“I’m going to have to find Joe Scarborough on the computer, if this is the way this guy does things, I might have to have a look at him..”

Don’t read too much into it. Blind squirrel and all. Joe is a one time conservative who is usually a GOPe hack.

To understand the Kristol aberration, you need to consider the strange morphing of Kristol's father--the acknowledged "God-father" of the Neocon movement. To understand the latter, from the senior Kristol's own key-board: The Neocon Phenomenon.

Hint: There is little that is either "new" or "conservative," about Bill's upbringing--or the "values," that he has not rejected.
