So Long Bobby Jindal?
The Atlantic ^ | 10/15/2015 | RUSSELL BERMAN

Posted on 10/15/2015 8:39:51 PM PDT by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

Thursday could mark the beginning of the end for Bobby Jindal’s increasingly slim presidential hopes.

The Louisiana governor’s campaign reported having just $260,000 to spend at the end of September after raising a little over half a million dollars and spending significantly more than that in the third quarter. It’s a paltry sum compared to his rivals, and if Jindal can’t jumpstart his White House bid soon, he could be headed the way of Rick Perry and Scott Walker, who ended their campaigns when their coffers ran dry.

Jindal’s haul—or lack thereof—was the most ominous signal that came from the quarterly FEC filing deadline on Thursday, which showed that the top two Democrats, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, each raised more money between June and September than any of the 15 Republicans still in the race. (Donald Trump, of course, has access to more money than any of them through his own personal wealth.) Clinton raised $28 million and Sanders raised $26 million. Ben Carson’s rise to a close second in the polls was reflected in his fund-raising, as he led the GOP field by taking in $20 million in the third quarter.

Why is Cruz being ignored by the media??? Just like Walker was. You would think this race was between trump, Carson and Bush. Cruz is third and barely ever mentioned. Hew raised almost as much $ as Carson but ignored. The powers that be want him OUT.

That’s not nice, with his brains he should be vice president of Microsoft. There, I said it.

I heard a conservative running for state office running against the condition of Louisiana right now. Debt, taxes and failing economy. Jindal needs to go to the private sector for a while. Think a bit, rehab his reputation, and move on.

“Trump hates rednecks and the Confederate flag. He’s made that abundantly clear.”

I hate New York provincialism and arrogant yankees, but I am still going to vote for one.

“Heard on Hannity today that Jindal was either being considered, or his name, at least floated, for Speaker of the House.”

If he didn’t succumb to hubris - which seems to be his drug of choice these days - he could excel at that. He is a remarkable admin guy. He was a real asset for Governor Foster back in the day.

Wait, so there's another litmus test for who we'll vote for? Love for the Confederate Flag?

Damn, there are so many hoops to jump through, I'm not sure how anyone can earn support of the forum.

Sadly, I fail on the Death Penalty Litmus Test, so I'd be considered a RINO if I ran for office.

He is termed out for now, and has not proven to be popular or effective as an executive. People blame him for much of the state’s poor economy and resent his sometimes draconian budget cutting.

He isn’t a leader. He is a brilliant support for a strong leader, but seems uninterested in a support role now days.

I don’t live in Louisiana...but in a bordering state.

They have had a poor economy for as long as I remember. They really can’t blame it on Jindal, imho.

It has fallen considerably. When oil is up, things are better. What Jindal has done that is on him is some fairly random and extreme budget cutting. Sort of like giving haircuts with a weed whacker.

If times were better, he’d be doing better. You are correct that much of it is not his fault.

I used to respect Jindal until he went kamikaze on Trump in order to get one day’s publicity for his dismal campaign. I’m sure he’ll get some cushy job running a university or a think tank or something.

I have never seen that show, but they endorsed a candidate for the House of Representatives. He was later got on video, um, fraternizing with the wife of a neighbor or friend. He refused to resign and was pretty petulant about it.

Because that is what Trump is for. Remember, he is part of the media. The Trump campaign made sure the Republican primary is conservatism free. He's even better for the GOPe than Jeb is.

Sadly, I fail on the Death Penalty Litmus Test, so I'd be considered a RINO if I ran for office.

I don't see why that should be a litmus test failure. A lot of conservatives feel that big government is limited. After all, if limiting government authority is your goal it makes sense not to give the government the ultimate authority, right?

Personally, I don't think the Confederate flag should be a litmus test. But Trump and his supporters claim he is so un-P.C., when the truth is he's extremely P.C. on 90% of the issues, and he's lying about most the rest. He's much more O.C. than not.

Uncle Si would know, he knows everything.

Hopefully they didn’t know, and I guess they did send a relative to run against him. But it’s a lesson to all of us, not to trust these dirtbag politicians.
