Lawyers for Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis say the marriage licenses issued by her office are binding and no further action is required by a federal judge to change them.
"Marriage licenses are being issued in Rowan County, which [Kentucky Gov. Steven Beshear] and Kentucky attorney general have approved as valid, which are recognized by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and which are deemed acceptable by the couples who received them," her lawyers said in court filings Tuesday.

Your objections don’t make sense despite your suspicions.
Davis’ past cannot tarnish an objective position nor support of it. And to ‘cave’ under the weight of government isn’t exactly a measure by which a citizen should be judged.
Politics is in the game here.
Kim Davis now ID’s as a Republican and her lawyers are sympathetic to the Republican Party.
Their arguments cite Democrat officials affirmation of gay marriage licenses. Officials like the Democrat governor who faces the voters in several weeks.
I think their arguments help GOP governor candidate Matt Bevin win the election.
I don’t know how Judge Bunning will react to them but the lawyers know if Bevin wins laws will be changed to take Kim Davis out of the loop so gay marriage licenses can be issued without her involvement in them.
This would nullify the case brought against her brought by the gay plantiffs.
You do realize that Davis made minor alterations to the licenses, removing her name and the name of her specific position, and the county, state, and everyone has accepted them as fine?
That is what her lawyer is saying here - that the licenses, as amended by her - have passed legal muster and therefore no further changes are necessary.
I wish you well looking for that perfect standard bearer.
Unless I am reading it wrong, I don’t think she caved at all. She removed her name from the licenses. The homos still complained and said they were not valid. They are valid and so there is no need to worry.
I would not want my daughter to have to walk the path that this woman walked either, before she met Jesus Christ and her sins were forgiven. What pain she must have suffered until she converted, resulting in four marriages and who knows what other pain.
But, in reality, we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Her life is just as painful to our Savior as mine or yours.
God has a habit of calling and using the unlikely: Noah was a drunk, Abraham was too old, Jacob was a liar, Leah was ugly, Joseph was abused, Moses had a stuttering problem, Gideon was afraid, Samson was a womanizer, Rahab was a prostitute, David was an adulterer and a murderer, Elijah was suicidal, Jonah ran from God, Naomi was a widow, Job went bankrupt, Peter denied, the Disciples fled, Martha worried, the Samaritan woman was divorced, Zacchesus was too small and Lazarus was dead!
Great analysis!
When posts like this come about, this is when FR needs an “Amen” button.
Seems to me that if one believes the Governor —one must also agree that Kim Davis has been the one party in all of this who did defend the Kentucky State Constitution and Laws— as well as the US Constitution —even managed to manifest profound honor to the one who dictated ,himself— the laws concerning legal marriage at the beginning. The Governor says all he did was inform the Clerks of what the supreme court had decided. And he never ordered the clerks do anything. He says ,in his defense that it is the Kentucky Legislature that makes the laws-— so the only reasonable and just resolution would be for the Courts to clear the good name of Kim Davis— awarding her such recompense due for her pain and suffering —her legal costs—her time wrongly put in jail— and expunge any record of wrongdoing on her part. The Governor has said the Kentucky Legislature makes the laws — and as that body has NOT yet changed the laws in Kentucky to accommodate the UNConstitutional opinion of the Majority (I agree with the dissent. )
Everything done to Kim Davis has been done to her harm and to the Harm of the Legal system. Kim Davis is the ONLY one in this Daisey Cutter of Judicial malpractice who has defended Kentucky Law— the US Constitution— and the Laws dictated by God,Himself which were reflected in American (legal) Law from 1791— 2015 - or at least
until Mass. led this current rebellion against LAW and
REASON by that State changing the Law to allow same sex marriage. Why the supreme Court would turn from the Constitution they purport to defend and agree with the Rebels defies logic. I will defend the Constitution —and I will defend legal Marriage— and I will defend the fundamental Rights of Conscience. and I will defend Kim Davis.
Which law specifically?
If I recall the last report correctly, she had successfully removed her name from these forms, and that was her objection all along. The state is saying that they are good with that.
That is not a ‘cave’ on her part.
You are correct.
Correct.
You can change the license papers all you want. They were signed by deputies appointed by her and issued via the County Clerk's Office. I believe one of them is her brother.
She was a deputy for 25 years....appointed by her mother, a Dem before her mother retired. She's as political as you can get.
She didn’t cave.
Just for show, all just for show. No principles and why do we allow five jurists to rule a country of 300 million? That’s not authorized in the Constitution. That’s not liberty.
Precisely.
The gay lobby is insisting that her name MUST appear on the license. They don't want a valid license, they want forced acceptance of their agenda as a requirement of law.
That is the point of Davis' lawyers and the fact that is being obscured by the accomplice liberal media.
Agreed, and BTW the way you phrased that was brilliant!
excellent
