Your objections don’t make sense despite your suspicions.
Davis’ past cannot tarnish an objective position nor support of it. And to ‘cave’ under the weight of government isn’t exactly a measure by which a citizen should be judged.
Politics is in the game here.
Kim Davis now ID’s as a Republican and her lawyers are sympathetic to the Republican Party.
Their arguments cite Democrat officials affirmation of gay marriage licenses. Officials like the Democrat governor who faces the voters in several weeks.
I think their arguments help GOP governor candidate Matt Bevin win the election.
I don’t know how Judge Bunning will react to them but the lawyers know if Bevin wins laws will be changed to take Kim Davis out of the loop so gay marriage licenses can be issued without her involvement in them.
This would nullify the case brought against her brought by the gay plantiffs.
You do realize that Davis made minor alterations to the licenses, removing her name and the name of her specific position, and the county, state, and everyone has accepted them as fine?
That is what her lawyer is saying here - that the licenses, as amended by her - have passed legal muster and therefore no further changes are necessary.
I wish you well looking for that perfect standard bearer.
Unless I am reading it wrong, I don’t think she caved at all. She removed her name from the licenses. The homos still complained and said they were not valid. They are valid and so there is no need to worry.
I would not want my daughter to have to walk the path that this woman walked either, before she met Jesus Christ and her sins were forgiven. What pain she must have suffered until she converted, resulting in four marriages and who knows what other pain.
But, in reality, we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Her life is just as painful to our Savior as mine or yours.
God has a habit of calling and using the unlikely: Noah was a drunk, Abraham was too old, Jacob was a liar, Leah was ugly, Joseph was abused, Moses had a stuttering problem, Gideon was afraid, Samson was a womanizer, Rahab was a prostitute, David was an adulterer and a murderer, Elijah was suicidal, Jonah ran from God, Naomi was a widow, Job went bankrupt, Peter denied, the Disciples fled, Martha worried, the Samaritan woman was divorced, Zacchesus was too small and Lazarus was dead!
If I recall the last report correctly, she had successfully removed her name from these forms, and that was her objection all along. The state is saying that they are good with that.
That is not a ‘cave’ on her part.
She didn’t cave.
Just for show, all just for show. No principles and why do we allow five jurists to rule a country of 300 million? That’s not authorized in the Constitution. That’s not liberty.
Her personal history tainted as it is becomes another matter but she hasn’t caved
just because she is cleaning up the marriage form to where her name, etc. doesn’t appear
thereon. If the courts and others want to declare that form legal in the state of KY then
so be it. Davis didn’t declare that in her position.
If the Gov of Kentucky had any balls at all, He would have pushed the State Legislature to pass a law mandating that ALL Marriages SHALL be performed by any Federal Judge residing or working within the boundaries of the State of Kentucky.
Then start JAILING the Federal Judges for Contempt when they cannot perform their LEGALLY REQUIRED DUTIES under Kentucky State Law.
She became a Christian after her last marriage. Don’t bear false witness.
We live in a country where practically nobody is resisting this sodomy-abomination; and if one Kentucky lady is willing to resist and spend 5 days in jail, my hat's off to her.
She makes us other 318 million Americans look like wimps. Because I'm afraid we are, God help us.
I would say to her exactly what Pope Francis said (but I hope without all the maddening clerico-bafflegab equivocations): "Thank you for your courage! Stay strong! and pray for me."

Mrs. Davis didn't cave on ANYTHING.....the prospective newly-weds get their precious legit piece of paper...and Kim retains her rights and principles, her unshaken religious tenets....and her job.
I know who's on the high ground here and who the winner is....and it ain't the pinhead poster.
Nice try.

Whatever happened to, “We don’t need a piece of paper!”???
