The federal Bureau of Prisons, a subdivision of President Barack Obama's Justice Department, has banished all pork products from the menus in all federal prisons ...
The government says it made the decision to do this because a survey showed that inmates do not like eating pork products.
The Council on American-Islamic relations said “we welcome” the move by the government to deny pork to prisoners, but warned that it might spark “Islamophobia.”

“The National Pork Producers Council isn’t buying it. 'I find it hard to believe that a survey would have found a majority of any population saying, ‘No thanks, I don’t want any bacon,'” said Dave Warner, a spokesman for the Washington-based trade association, which represents the nation’s hog farmers.
CAIR told the Post that banning pork in federal prisons would accommodate Muslim prisoners:

Although I have not been able to find the executive order...there may not be one..and I don’t know any federal prisoners personally, it is quite possible and easy to shift the entire diet to kosher and thus appease the Muslims, as they both, Muslims and Jews, derive their diets from the same source.

Kosher food and cooking and eating is unbelievably expensive compared to conventional cooking, or even compared to halal, whose restrictions are quite minimal.

Well, I’m not going to dismiss the CNS report without some reason to do so.
I note in my searching that the menus for 2012, 2013, 2014 are posted but not the 2015. There are also some change stories that my security won’t allow me to access so before I get my computer dirty, I am going to wait and maybe this will get fleshed out at some point.

don’t agree with this, but then again we should just go ahead and cut meat out of all prison menus. strict vegan diet as punishment for being a criminal sounds good. spinach and beans.
Why wouldn’t he ban pork? His people can’t eat it. (But can they have pork suppositories?)
This is a tough one.... Obammy banning pork because he’s a muzzy...vs why are we feeding prisoners ham and bacon. How about we come to a compromise and just give them spam. The other meat.
