I had another posting regarding using salad dressings to cook with, this is kind of a follow up, but with more detail.....and not for the weak of heart. My buddies came across something on the web about bacon cereal. This guy fried up his bacon, chopped it up and put it in a bowl (like it was cereal) and then added blue cheese (like it was milk).Naturally, under the theory that everything is better with bacon, we decided to come up with something similar. We would do the same thing, but instead of blue cheese, add bacon flavored ranch dressing...

Here is the question, in terms of both safety and taste. Can you cook or fry with salad dressing? I know you can marinate with some oil type salad dressings (alot of folks use italian salad dressing to marinate chicken, steaks and pork chops, etc). However, can you actually fry foods using say, creamy salad dressings? Like creamy italian or ranch style dressing? Or, also a weird but strange question, if you are eating something and pour creamy style dressing over it, can you put it into the fridge and reheat (probably via microwave) later on and eat it again,...

Actually, forget the burger: make your own bacon sandwich using two additional layers of bacon instead of bread. Each can comes with 40 to 50 slices of lipids and protein, produced using three pounds of raw bacon plus:• water •...

DHAKA, Bangladesh – Muslim villagers in Mymensingh district eager to rid the area of the Christian work of a local pastor have gang-raped his 13-year-old daughter. Pastor Motilal Das of United Bethany Church said that at around 3 a.m. on Friday (May 2) the villagers sexually assaulted his daughter, Elina Das, and left her unconscious in front of his house in an attempt to drive him and his Christian ministry out of Laksmipur village in Fulbaria sub-district, 120 kilometers (75 miles) north of the capital. Local residents have long been angry with him for his ministry and evangelism, he said,...

The practice of political correctness may soon be tallying another casualty: the pig. Increasingly, as America and the rest of the Western world continue accommodating Muslim religious demands, pork food products are being singled out for removal from dining tables and pig-related trinkets banished from the desks of office workers. If this continues, good ol’ American food, such as barbeque replete with hot dogs and ribs and the typical American breakfast of eggs, bacon and sausage, might be seen as the equivalent of political poison. Could outright censorship of pig depictions in drawings, pig references in literary works and pig...

Amid the hustle and bustle of downtown Los Angeles, there exists another world, an underground world of illicit trade in-not drugs or sex-but bacon-wrapped hot dogs. Street vendors may sell you an illegal bacon dog, but hardly anyone will talk about it, for fear of being hassled, shut down or worse. Our camera caught it on tape. One minute bacon dogs are sold in plain view, the next minute cops have confiscated carts, and ordered the dogs dumped into the trash. Elizabeth Palacios is one of the few vendors willing to speak publicly. "Doing bacon is illegal," she explains. Problem...

A Muslim police officer given bacon and wine as a "Secret Santa" gift decided to treat it as a harmless if tasteless joke. But a non-Muslim colleague failed to show the same level of tolerance. The officer who supplied the gift, 26-year-old PC Rob Murrie, was reported to his superiors for racism. And PC Murrie subsequently came under such pressure that he felt he had no option but to resign from the Bedfordshire force. Yesterday the target of the joke, 31-year-old Arshad Mahmood, said he still regarded PC Murrie as "a good officer and a good friend", while Muslim community...

Conservatives target Daschle Center earmark Republicans weren't big fans of Tom Daschle when he was the Democratic leader in the Senate, so it's no surprise they would take particular delight in highlighting a $1 million earmark for the Thomas Daschle Center for Public Service. Conservative Republicans in both chambers have seized on the money to argue that Democrats are breaking their own rules by "air-dropping" projects into spending bills without first clearing them with House and Senate negotiators. The money goes to South Dakota State University, and the former senator-turned-lobbyist told the Associated Press that the center would create opportunities...

This latest development, coupled with the problem of certain Muslim cabdrivers at the airport refusing to take passengers who have alcohol, was apparently too much for the newspaper to understand. We're communicators and it's up to us to start doing it now. The official mourning period is over today and there is a silver lining -- George W. Bush is prohibited...

  • How to Create More High-Paying Construction Jobs? Repeal Davis-Bacon Act

Background In 1931 the Davis-Bacon Act was adopted to create a "prevailing wage," usually the union rate, for any construction contract over $2,000 funded in whole or in part by the federal government. The benefits of the "prevailing wage," however, go to a very few at the expense of taxpayers and the Act is a prime example of unfunded mandates and government waste. Davis-Bacon inflates the cost of federally funded construction projects by as much as 15%, discourages economic growth, and raises federal spending. In fact, Davis-Bacon Act wages cost taxpayers over $1 billion annually, in addition to the $100...

For education and discussion only. Not for commercial use. Bacon comes in twelve distinct flavors of salty, fatty hog flesh that can be found anywhere and everywhere. In Baltimore, you best bet is Lexington Market, where you can pick up the proper thick-cut low water stuff. It's cheaper and better than Oscar Meyer. The biggest problem with the garden variety is what all that water does in the pan. Supposedly you've got hot metal, molten fat, and pork in the skillet. That should easily spend most of its time above 300 Fahrenheit -- well into the range where the Maillard...

Hold the bacon     Apart from Hurricane Charley, we've been following a most intriguing story out of Orlando, Fla., where a woman says she was fired from her job because she ate a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich at work, offending Muslim employees.     According to the Orlando Sentinel, Lina Morales has filed a religious-discrimination lawsuit against Rising Star Telecommunications, saying she lost her administrative position because she violated a policy banning pork and pork products from the workplace.     She says the rule "constitutes religious discrimination because it is based in Islamic law for the benefit of some Muslim employees who were...

Last weekend's hatefest in New York City, in which John Kerry endorsed the vicious attack of Hollywood hacks on the Commander-in-Chief, provides a sad portent of things to come. Leftist hate group MoveOn.org announced last week that it has enlisted the help of the Hollywood elite in its partisan campaign to smear the president and stigmatize America’s War on Terror. According to a Time magazine story (“I’m Rob Reiner, and I Approve This Ad”), such Hollywood powerhouses as Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Errol Morris, Rob Reiner, “West Wing” creator Aaron Sorkin, Ed Asner, Danny Glover, Al Franken, the ubiquitous Kevin...

Al-Qaeda Agents Stop At Denny's, Order Bacon (parody) (AP) The FBI office in Denver has received "numerous" calls about the seven people believed to be associated with al-Qaeda pictured Wednesday in newspapers. Monique Kelso, spokeswoman for the Denver office, wouldn't characterize the calls as "sightings," but at least one was reported as such. Samuel Mack, a manager of the Denny’s in nearby Avon, said two men stopped into the restaurant on Thursday. “These two men came in and they acted suspicious,” said Mack. “After they sat down, they kept looking around, which what seemed to me as if they were...

Please help me settle a bet. My friend and I are in disagreement over the fat content in bacon. I think that the longer you cook it, the crispier it gets, and the more fat is cooked out of it. My friend thinks that it doesn't matter, and limp, half-cooked bacon has the same fat content as crispy bacon. A six pack of beer is riding on this.
