Of nearly 460 people who voted, about 38 percent cast a peanut for Trump. Ben Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon, came in second with about 24 percent of the peanuts.

Nearly all candidates - even Joe Biden, who has not announced whether he’ll run - found fans at the fair.

Lincoln Chafee, the former U.S. senator and governor of Rhode Island, was “still looking for his first vote,” noted guest announcer Gary Black, the state’s agriculture commissioner. For that matter, so were Republicans Georgia Pataki and Jim Gilmore.

For Democrats, Hillary Clinton ended the day with 64 legumes stacked up in her jar.

For Democrats, Hillary Clinton ended the day with 64 legumes stacked up in her jar.

Jill Nolin apparently couldn't bring herself to state what percentage of the total votes that Hillary got (14%).

Switching from percentages to a peanut count of 64 surely might fool low-info voters into thinking that Hillary beat out Trump's 38(%) and Carson's 24(%), right Jill?

Don't know how many Freepers have ever eaten Boiled Peanuts.

...jumbo 'green' or raw peanuts from the field, boiled in saltwater.

I’m from South Georgia. Boiled peanuts is all we eat (well, except for cheese grits).;-)

Surprising, Texas grows tons of peanuts but they don't do boiled peanuts.

My brother & I just boiled 3 sacks for our family.

Had to buy them outta Baton Rouge and had them UPS'd to my office.

They aren't a Cajun thing either.

I was actually born 75 miles north of New Orleans, Washington Parish, on the border of Mississippi.

Your Momma should have taught you that you are supposed to excuse yourself when you do something outrageously offensive.

A plate of hominy grits is Southern ice cream.

We moved to southern Georgia last year. Boiled peanuts are everywhere, by the nachos in the gas stations, etc.

I finally got some at my kids Little League game. Too salty and hard to take the peanuts out of the soggy shell. I guess I am not a true Georgian yet.

Virginia born & bred. We didn’t do grits.

I was 16 when I first tasted grits. That was when we were visiting a family in Alabama for Thanksgiving. I have never been able to acquire a taste for them.

My family goes back to 17th century Boston.

You don't know what you are missing.;-)

Grits are just hominy corn flavored with various other wonderful foods.

Charleston Shrimp and Grits

That recipe is nice but really good shrimp and grits has cheddar..

A family Christmas tradition at my house is oyster stew for breakfast.

Oyster stew grits is/are the most wonderful thing/s on the earth.

Make your grits with the leftover oyster stew.

You need to make grits to your own taste buds. Made them Virginia style.

Put in seafood or sausage or bacon or cheese or Virginia ham or all the above.

Grits, despite their lowly name, is/are the most wonderful food on the planet.

Take a chance and discover your roots. And find some rough ground grits. They are the most flavorful.

;-)

There are quite a few ways to prepare them, most of which are delicious. But, instant grits are not worth the time. Think of grits as a country version of polenta.
