Peshmerga are not U.S. priority for now: official

A Pentagon spokeswoman has said the priority of the U.S. right now is equipping the Iraqi government forces and Sunni tribal fighters not the Kurdish forces of Peshmerga.

A chief goal of the Obama administration’s Iraq war policy is to train and arm the Iraqi army so it can retake territory, especially in the Islamic State stronghold of Sunni-dominated western Iraq.

According to Washington Times, Kurdish officials say Baghdad is the obstacle on Kurds’ receiving weapons. Iraqi government alone decides what weapons get transferred from the capital to the semiautonomous Kurdistan Regional Government, officials said.

“All equipment goes to the government of Iraq, and the government of Iraq distributes it,” said Army Col. Steve Warren, the top U.S. military spokesman in Iraq. “We do provide advice, but the final decisions are theirs.”

Baghdad is known for being leery of providing the Kurdistan Regional Government with front-line weapons, which it fears could be used in a war for full Kurdish independence.

The equipment shortage leaves the Peshmerga outgunned and facing waves of terrorist-operated American military vehicles rigged with powerful explosives.

The Kurdish officials said the Peshmerga owns only a handful of front-line anti-armor weapons, such as the European MILAN missile. It has hundreds of Swedish-designed, shoulder-fired AT-4s — a light, unguided weapon.

Peshmerga fighters say what they need are heavier, guided missiles, such as the longer-range U.S. TOWs and Javelins, with which they could kill armored vehicles at a safe range. They have received none, according to Kurdish sources.

Erdogan speaking of the Kurds:

“I am saying this to the whole world: We will never allow the establishment of a state on our southern border in the north of Syria, we will continue our fight in that respect whatever the cost may be.”

There are large Kurdish populations in both eastern Turkey and northwestern Iran.

The old adage is: “The Kurds have no friends but the mountains”.

Meanwhile Erodogan was in Brussels making demands on Europe ... what he wants in exchange for stopping the flow of his "army invasion" refugees into Europe.....

Erdogan's demands:

..... Erdogan wants EU to support and fund his war against the Kurds. Declare the PKK Kurdish terroists.

.....He wants a safe zone along the border in northern Syria where Isis fighters would be cleared and refugees could be resettled...creating a no-fly zone. So he can carry out his attacks on the Kurds.

..... Erdogan wants EU to open its border to 75 million Turks...Europe would then end up taking millions of economic migrants — this time of Turkish descent.

......Wants the EU to list Turkey as “a safe third country”, effectively whitewashing Ankara’s increasingly repressive policies and deteriorating human rights and media freedoms record.

So First he Floods Europe with Syrian Refugees by promoting false hopes to those in the camps and country via leaflets etc. Then overwhelming Europe using the masses as his "army" to put pressure on Europe to do more in Syria to topple Assad.....now he's pushing after Putin stopped his plans by entering Syria.

Gosh, that's great. Our taxes fund automatic weapons for third world throwbacks, but the same government tells us we should not be able to buy them ourselves?

Guess ya gotta be a Muslim to have a real Second Amendment.

Hey McGruff.....keep a close eye on what Erdogan is doing now....he flooded Europe with these refugees to put pressure on the US/Europe to take out Assad because of his personal aspirations to be crowned Imperial Wizard of the revived Ottoman Empire.....explains too his mammoth palace spread he completed....and his move of flooding Europe with refugees.

He's just layed out basically an ultimatum "dream list" in Brussels to European leaders of his demands....

...Putins entering Syria truly scuttled Erdogans plans so he's pushing Europe hard now or he'll cut loose thousands more refugees to further overwhelm Europeans systems......which now explains why he was so welcoming to accommodate so many refugees in the first place... which many questioned.

Erdogan is very well known among Islamists, Jihadists and ISIS/ISIL as their hero for supplying them with military equipment and funding throughout Syria and otherwise. He's the "DOORMAN few give media attention to. and responsible for much of the chaos in Syria as well as all the refugees flooding Europe..on purpose.

Putins actions in Syria aren't only against ISIS and to prop up Assad, but to squash Erdogans moves. There's an interesting greeting when dignitaries went to Russia and Putin made Erdogan stand aside, ignoring him while he shook hands with all the others. He looked like he had no clue what to do with himself.

Like Saddam Erdogan has gone over the deep end and envisions himself as the Imperial Sultan of the Revived Ottoman Empire..... Remember this photo showing all the warriors representing Conquering hero's of the past?...well that should have been telling to many...

“Don’t worry Kurds, Putin has your back.”

Sure looks that way. Another Obama foreign policy accomplishment.
