California governor signs aggressive climate change bill

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed an ambitious bill on Wednesday to combat climate change by increasing the state’s renewable electricity use to 50 percent and doubling energy efficiency in existing buildings by 2030.

Brown approved the measure after losing a political battle against oil interests as he also tried to cut petroleum use by half in the state. […]

Many moderate Democrats were concerned that the petroleum mandate would hurt California’s working-class residents. The lawmakers sought greater oversight of state regulators, but Brown refused to give up what he viewed as executive authority.

None of this makes any difference.

California has been weighed and found wanting.

You cannot keep flipping God off and get away with it.

California could entirely slide into the sea and the climate would not change one bit.

The only good news here is that Brown will most likely be dead before this law kicks in!

But the toxins would likely kill off ocean life for thousands of miles.

So who is going to be their “Enron” fall guy when this stupidity comes home to roost in CA like his 1979 decree on the same issue did?

“You cannot keep flipping God off and get away with it.”

Wait just a damned minute! I live in California, and so do the folks who host FR. I’ve never “flipped off God” and I will bet you that the Robinson’s haven’t either. You might want to reconsider what you’ve posted because it’s highly offensive to a large percentage of those of us who call California home.

He should also help all those overweight people by ruling gravity is now cut in half.

It will also cut down on the wear and tear on the roads.

Consider me in the minority of Californian conservatives who revel in our demise. It's good that we are an example of what not to do for the rest of the nation.

Personally I find it weak to proclaim, "but there are pockets of conservative resistance in Cali. Boohoo. The politics of attempting to save one's own ass. Let us slide into the ocean. I'll smile.

Sometimes you just have to shoot a hostage.

I don’t think Governor Moonbeam is a member of FR. And frankly, in scripture God puts the onus on the leaders (Isaiah 3:12).

The problem in California is the GOPe. They went over to the dark side a long time ago and abandoned Conservatives. Overall, there are more Conservatives in California than liberals. And it’s that way in every state except Hawaii.

“Consider me in the minority of Californian conservatives who revel in our demise.”

You missed my point completely! This isn't about the fact that California is in the dumper, it's using this jingoistic phrase involving God being upset with all of California and that being why we're in trouble. Actually, I want to see California go completely bankrupt, because that's likely to be the starting point for some serious rebuilding of this once proud state. All this childish bullshit about “California dropping off into the Pacific” only serves to point out that some here don't have the mental acuity to take a bent dime out of a Coke machine! They are either naive or stupid because what has happened to California is coming to their states, and coming very soon. With very few exceptions, it's going to happen everywhere. Moving to a state where the cancer has not yet completely metastasized is just buying a little time, but it's no reason to crow.
