Obama up against growing support for a no-fly zone in Syria (Fiorina: Prepare to fight Russians)
CBS News ^ | 10/5/15 | REBECCA KAPLAN

Russia has been stepping up its involvement in the Syrian civil war - culminating in airstrikes last week that may have targeted not just ISIS, but also rebels opposing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Meanwhile, the Syrian refugee crisis continues unabated, with a massive influx of Syrians overwhelming Turkey and Europe.

To address this, lawmakers and presidential candidates alike - including the president's former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, say the U.S. should respond with a no-fly zone, which is not a tactic President Obama is willing to pursue right now.

-snip-

And in an interview on Fox News last week, Fiorina said the U.S. should secure a no-fly zone around the rebels it supports.

"This is a tricky maneuver, it's a dangerous maneuver, but it's a maneuver that we must undertake because we must make it crystal clear to Russia, they do not get to move into the Middle East," she said. As for a potential fight with the Russians, she said, "If it does come to that, I think we must be prepared."

This is stupid writ large.

Why would we fight with the Russians? Is Assad so bad that we have to support the rebels, which include the ISIS barbarians?

Obama’s been wrong all along, but he’s gotten his bluff called, and he’s right not to get our noses bloodied, or worse, after he’s put us in this impossible position.

Syria has been a Russian client state since the 1960s. Russia has had naval basing rights in Syria since the 1970s.

Putin is fighting to hang on to what he has, not to expand his influence in the ME.

The Cold War is over, we won.

More government idiocy.

Washington won’t be content until they start WWIII.

Buy more food, more TP, more ammo and store more water.

Let’s see now, Netanyahu and Trump: Russians bombing the hell out of ISIS is a good thing because it needs doing and Obama won’t do it because he supports Muslim extremist terrorism.

OR

Carly, Yeb, Hillary, Kasich: we should threaten to go to war with Russia to force “no-fly” zones to provide “safe” corridors for the ISIS and other Muslim terrorist savages to operate in Syria, free from aerial destruction.

Hmmmm. Decision, decision ...

So Fiorina wants the U.S. to attack Russia, to protect ISIS and the questionable FSA from Russian airstrikes?

Am I understanding that right?

We’re supposed to go to war with Russia to defend some theoretically less violently anti-American than usual jihadis who are theoretically mixed in with ISIS? Somebody explain that to me.

Wow. So we’re going to shoot down Russian planes? What happens when they shoot back? Do we really want to go there for a bunch of 7th century savages.

ISIS does not have an air force so please explain how a no fly zone hurts ISIS?

They want a no fly zone to protect ISIS and other groups who Mccain likes , but still cops heads off from Russia who is killing ISIS and them.

That is how nuts the establishment and some on the left are.

This is dumb. We are not prepared to fight Russia since we have a low nuke count.

We can barely resist Russia given how many freepers seem to have fallen for Putin like Vichy traitors of the right, while the left traitors support China and Soviet resurgence.

Did Congress even authorize the use of force in removing Assad? If so, when did that happen?

We lost WWIII since we cannot fight nuclear war with a dominant arsenal anymore.

Now it is WWIV, trying to resist Russian invasions in the future. But given the Vichy nature of the right in AMerica and the traitor nature of the left, Putin simply controls both sides, ie. Obama and traitor right wing useful isiots.
