Sorry, but I’m not reading another “I’m a victim” piece. There’s plenty of opportunity for blacks, they just need to make smarter choices, starting with repairing the black family unit. In the 1960’s, about 20% of black babies were born out of wedlock. In 2014, it was 72%. It takes no brains to father a child, but it takes effort to be a father and 72% of black men duck that responsibility.

Given that we are talking about San Francisco and that blacks actually have a higher sense of morality (not supporting homosexual behavior) than whites, perhaps the problem is that blacks do not want the job of Gay Bar bouncer and things like that.

I have often thought that the way to eliminate generational poverty was to remove all children born to underage single mothers from their homes permanently. Most would do better in an institution than with their poor unwed birth mother.

Ad to that the fact that no welfare of any kind would be given to unwed mothers who do not name a father on the birth certificate. If they do not know they should not keep the child. If it could be more than one, name them and they should be tested and forced to pay for their creations.

If none is found the child is removed, permanently.

The Great Society programs incentives broken homes and poverty in and of themselves. They provide just enough to live just a comfortable life that nothing will change. You will not starve or be left on the street, but you will also have no incentive to do much better.

Housing prices are high in SF. Tech companies that are located in SF and want to hire employees have to pay them enough to relocate and work in the area. That kind of work usually requires a 4 year degree or better with some track record. How many blacks have that level of achievement to be recruited and relocated to SF? The income gap is a consequence of an achievement gap. Blacks are 4.5% of CS grads, but 2% of actual hires in Silicon Valley. Hispanics are 6.5% of CS grads and 3% of Silicon Valley hires. That said, simply graduating says nothing about ability to do the job or how well those grads compare against the rest of the CS grads competing for those jobs. There are simply too few with the necessary achievement levels to tip the proportions.

The parties whining about income "gap" are not examining why. They simply was to "fix" the "problem" by handing the under achievers a pile of money to make them feel better without any requirement to perform better.
