Do you WIN or LOSE under Trump's tax plan? (Vanity)
Trump's Tax Plan ^ | 9-28-15 | Rkba Democrat

Posted on 09/28/2015 3:51:07 PM PDT by RKBA Democrat

I've been reading the articles and analysis on Donald Trump's tax plan. I've read several articles, and everyone has an opinion as to whether it helps the poor, hurts the poor, if it taxes people enough, whether it's conservative enough....blah, blah, blah.

I couldn't care less what the theoretical impact is on some hypothetical person that exists in someone's imagination. What I care about are MY taxes. I have yet to see any posts or articles where someone takes out their tax return and figures it out. So I did that. I took out a piece of scrap paper and figured it out. It took all of 5 minutes, including the time to find the calculator.

The result: using conservative assumptions my Federal income taxes will go down by 42%.

I LIKE Donald Trump's tax plan! I like it a lot!

The market should set the wage.

Then those kids that work like dogs and are willing to do the work, could KEEP the jobs because their employers could LEGALLY pay them what they were worth, small at first, and as they got better they would be worth more, thereby instilling a WORK ETHIC.

All I am pointing out is the inevitable result of raising the minimum wage (I think $7.25/hr nationally, but $9/hr in California and efforts in many cities and states to raise their own minimum wages to $15/hr) will be to attract a whole helluva lot more illegal immigrants than we have even now. It is one of many evil consequences of the minimum wage.

Illegal immigrants are a symptom of TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT. Illegal immigrants are here taking advantage of TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT. Reduce the government, and you'll see coordinating reductions in illegal immigration.

Instead, there are those who think brute force of a fence is going to stop people willing to risk a little hassle in order to earn what is to them a goldmine, but to the American teen, pocket change. It is neither good nor bad, it just ... IS.

If you don't like it -- then push for elimination of the minimum wage and all the rest of the excess government meddling that attracts and holds illegals.

I believe everyone who lives in this country should pay some fed, state and county/city taxes...a flat tax looks like the way to go...this isn’t a flat tax.

Agree, but it's nearly impossible to make that argument politically right now. For Trump or anyone else to try to tax, even the smallest bit, those who are currently not paying is basically political suicide. I can't fault Trump for recognizing that reality. Margaret Thatcher actually tried to introduce a tax (was dubbed the poll tax) that forced takers to pay for the first time and she was driven from office.

So yes, everyone should pay something so they have skin in the game. But we are not in a place politically where that is possible.

As to Trump's tax plan, it seems pretty good overall. I also liked his immigration plan. My problem still remains that I don't believe Trump is an ideological conservative and have no confidence were he to win he wouldn't just say something like "well, those are the kinds of things I said as a candidate, now that I'm President I have to go in a different direction much like I did in my role as a businessman". I simply don't believe Trump is an ideological conservative, and I think that shows when he talks about things like socialized health care.

But Trump's actual tax plan seems pretty solid to me.

I oppose the national minimum wage as unconstitutional. Can someone can point to anything there (other than the, “general welfare” phrase that the libs use to justify anything they darn well please) that gives the feds that power? Besides, $15 is crap in NYC, real money in Podunk but, inflationary everywhere.

I began my work life at minimum wage and am now in the highest bracket. That is the key to American success. I am a first generation immigrant from a commie paradise. If I leave any to my kids they could easily be back at the bottom bracket in no time. Freedom and responsibility are ideals we came here for.

I don’t blame economic refugees for trying to come here but ideological refugees serve the nation better. Liberals prefer the economic refugees because they can be bought with freebies.

Trump is driving the news topics by speaking of his plans and releasing his positions in writing.

Where are the other candidates plans? They seem to be running a little behind and just responding to the topic of the day.

Boom!

The plan said you would be able to keep at least 50 percent of deductions. Those charitable and mortgage deductions were the only things keeping me above water. Must not matter to you.

How does the plan affect your own taxes?

For us it looks like it is 'Revenue Neutral', as they like to say...

I like this plan Trump put out today. I think it is much better than a 'Flat Tax' or a 'National Sales Tax'. The family with an income of $25,000 likely pays nothing now, would pay$2,500 with a 10% Flat tax, or $1,250 with a 5% National Sales Tax. With Trump's proposal, this family would pay nothing.

The real sleeper in this plan is the 'amnesty' on bringing off-shore holdings back, along with the reduction in Corporate Income Tax. This will undoubtedly bring many jobs, especially manufacturing jobs, back to the good ole USofA. The off-shore holdings brought back here will finance the manufacturing expansion. I think that this is the part of the plan that will actually increase Federal revenue.

Next we need to see Trump's plan to reduce Federal Government spending. Eliminate EPA? Dept of Energy? HHS? Dept of Education? Dept of Agriculture? Mandatory spending cuts in all departments and agencies? And so on. We here on FR would like to help the Donald write this proposal!

Everyone should pay taxes. What is your income? Pay in X%. From dishwasher to billionaire. If your tax form is larger than a 4 X 6 notecard, something is wrong with the tax code.

Anyone in possession of a DD-214 with an Honorable discharge on it should not have to pay Federal income taxes.

I like your plan! I have mine at the ready for this part of the plan! Name, Rank and Serial Number! (Still have my dog tags too!)

The question a patriot should ask himself is whether or not the Country wins or loses.

Whether your grandchildren will thank you or curse you.

Owch. That is very, very true and I had never thought of it. I found it disturbing ... I have a new rule to make what is disturbing, instructional. As it is very instructional.

Economic refugees who come here for better lives, can be bought with freebies; ideological refuges who come here for Constitutional freedoms certainly serve the nation better. No wonder liberals enable illegal immigrants so readily.

Although I have only ever been an employee and never an employer, minimum wage has always ticked me off because it is so very unconstitutional and seems a crazy burden on employers. In my world, entrepreneurs (left or right) who create businesses that in turn create jobs and wealth, are American heroes as much as honored veterans. The line is getting fuzzy as leftist businesses build themselves on government subsidies, such as "green" solar and architectural businesses existing because government rewards consumers for using them; government corrupts entrepreneurship the way minimum wage corrupts an honest work ethic. *sigh*

The minimum wage is an affront to liberty and morality, the moral liberty of capitalism, and the moral liberty of individuals to pursue happiness.

The plan seems good. I just like a consumption tax better because it effects all people and removes class envey as a means to exploit the voter and unites all people against the government.
The downfall would be a black market industry below the board. The positive would be a more competitive market where quality would be the tool necessary to justfy buying higher end goods, and it would also encourage savings. IMHO.

The plan addresses mortgage interest and charitable dedux. I would take a conservative approach and assume you lose all other dedux except your personal exemptions. Then I’d run the numbers.

There's nothing like a job where you see almost immediate financial gain when you put in a little more effort. Such a job was coffee shop waitressing night shift in a busy place where the manager leaves it up to the waitresses to seat their own stations. The aggressive waitress will grab them first and if you don't like it -- beat her to it next time. The harder you work, the more money you make in tips. The waitress who taught me that was at first (I thought!) a real witch (replace the w with a b) but we ended up bosom buddies for years. I learned a lot from her and it paid well.

I loved waitressing! I made a lot of dough and worked with a lot of Mexicans and American teens.
