THE MYSTERY OF POPE FRANCIS: WAS THERE A VATICAN COUP?
Powerline ^ | SEPTEMBER 27, 2015 | STEVEN HAYWARD

Posted on 09/27/2015 6:17:24 PM PDT by xzins

One thing that that has puzzled a lot of people since the selection of Pope Francis two years ago is how a left-leaning Pope could succeed two very serious conservative Popes—John Paul II and Benedict XVI—who you would have thought had stacked the ranks of the Cardinals with clergy that would perpetuate their theological and philosophical outlook. Was Benedict hounded out of office by some kind of internal Vatican scandal perhaps? Was there some ecclesiastical version of a coup?

There’s no evidence that I’m aware of—until now. Three days ago the National Catholic Register ran a very curious article about the contents of a newly published authorized biography of retired Belgian cardinal Godfried Danneels. The Register article reports:

Further serious concerns are being raised about Cardinal Godfried Danneels, one of the papal delegates chosen to attend the upcoming Ordinary Synod on the Family, after the archbishop emeritus of Brussels confessed this week to being part of a radical “mafia” reformist group opposed to Benedict XVI. . .

At the launch of the book in Brussels this week, the cardinal said he was part of a secret club of cardinals opposed to Pope Benedict XVI.

He called it a “mafia” club that bore the name of St. Gallen. The group wanted a drastic reform of the Church, to make it “much more modern”, and for Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio to head it. The group, which also comprised Cardinal Walter Kasper and the late Jesuit Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, has been documented in Austen Ivereigh’s biography of Pope Francis, The Great Reformer.

Over at The American Conservative, Rod Dreher has gone to the trouble of translating an Italian report that is even more curious:

The Italian Vaticanist Marco Tosatti writes (in Italian; I’ve modified the Google translation):

The election of Jorge Bergoglio was the result of secret meetings that cardinals and bishops, organized by Carlo Maria Martini, held for years in St. Gallen, Switzerland. This, according to Jürgen Mettepenningen et Karim Schelkens, authors of a newly published biography of the Belgian Cardinal Godfried Danneels, who calls the group of cardinals and bishops a “Mafia club”.
Danneels according to the authors, worked for years to prepare for the election of Pope Francis, which took place in 2013. Danneels, moreover, in a video recorded during the presentation of the book in Brussels, admits that he was part of a secret club of cardinals who opposed Joseph Ratzinger. Laughing, he calls it “a Mafia club that bore the name of St. Gallen”.
The group wanted a drastic reform of the Church, much more modern and current, with Jorge Bergoglio, Pope Francis, as its head. They got what they wanted. Besides Danneels and Martini, the group according to the book were part of the Dutch bishop Adriaan Van Luyn, the German cardinal Walter Kasper and Karl Lehman, the Italian Cardinal Achille Silvestrini and British Basil Hume, among others.

I underscore that this is not some secretly sourced claim, but it’s from an advance copy of Cardinal Danneels’ official biography, approved by himself.

This is the first confirmation of rumors that had been going around for years about Benedict being thwarted by a liberal conspiracy, one that eventually forced him out. These men — Danneels, Van Luyn, Kasper, Lehman, and Hume, at least — all preside over dying churches. And they killed the Benedict papacy.

This might explain a few things. . .

But why would Benedict play along with it?

I accept that Benedict the XVI wanted to retire because he was a very old and very fragile man physically. He had all his marbles. Having been a radical intellectual (periti) at Vatican II serving German bishops who were radical even then and rammed through their miserable agenda at Vatican II, as the results of the Council and the empty pews and the disappearance of priestly vocations and the work of some of the Vatican II idiots, he became a far more conservative man and determined to undo the damage of Vatican II.

For a time, he was Cardinal Archbishop of Munich. Later, after the election of John Paul II, Ratzinger became his right hand man as the head of the Holy Office, the Congregation for the doctrine of the Faith, the successor to the Inquisition. He used his superior intellect and his encyclopedic knowledge of all things Catholic to relentlessly track down "liberation" "theologians," (the kind who envision Jesus Christ and Che Guevara wielding machine guns against any non-communist running any Latin American country), silencing them, defrocking them and driving them out of the priesthood. Pope Francis, by contrast, is inviting the same communist priests to the Vatican for public approval.

For the mechanics of the conclaves that elect popes, see Fr. Malachi Martin's novel The Final Conclave, written a year before Paul VI's death and predicting that death of heart failure to happen in the very month Paul VI died of heart failure, August, 1978. If you read the novel, I will tell you the real life cardinals after whom the fictional ones were created. The 1978 conclaves that elected John Paul I and St. John Paul II were a clash of about five conspiracies, few of them good, and Belgium and Germany were in the front pew of the evil. Good prevailed both times.

Something bad must have happened to allow the personalities who are said to have participated to prevail. A ring leader of the conspiracy until his death was the utterly leftist Cardinal Martini of Milan who had wanted to be pope to lead the Church leftward until its morality and liturgies were no longer recognizably Catholic. Godfreed Daneels' predecessor and patron was Leo Cardinal Suenens, one of the most evil prelates of modern times.

Walter Cardinal Kaspar who is now approaching 80 and mandatory retirement is another Suenens. Another German Cardinal in the group would be Cardinal Marx (that's his name) and the now dead English Cardinal Basil Hume who is very accurately portrayed in Martin's novel for the quisling that he was. These guys would have despised Ratzinger not only as a hard-line Church conservative but as one who defected from their ranks.

This story of a conspiracy needs more details as to HOW these people thwarted Benedict XVI and HOW the elected Bergoglio at the next conclave in which each and every voting cardinal had been appointed by either John Paul II or Benedict XVI, but the story rings true to my Catholic ears.

God bless you and yours!

Ignorance is bliss, I suppose ... The Pope is only “divinely selected” IF the Bishops FIRST pray for and are open to the GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY GHOST ... Which, obviously, Modernist Heretics, Freemasons, Sodomites, pederasts, and other such low life scum - “who really do not believe in all the bullshit” (aka Christianity) - are NOT going to follow the promptings of the Holy Ghost.

Nice try, but take your bigotry elsewhere.

Thanks, Black Elk, for the explanation. What do you think would have caused Benedict to step down?

The election of such a pope may have been divine punishment of the sins of Catholics (as I believe was the case as to Paul VI and especially John XXIII) not unlike the diaspora of the Jews after Masada in 70 AD or thereabouts which the Chassidim or ultra Orthodox Jews believe. ,P. The Holy Ghost is not just the nice cuddly puppy in the sky who loves everything we do, however sinful. Godthe Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost are each and all capable of inflicting punishment on sinful humans in this life and, if called for, in the next.

As to the cardinal electors who elected Francis, none of us would like to be in their stylish shoes or elegant outfits at the time of the final judgment.

Did I touch a nerve, there, militant papist?

Clue: there are *many* of us Spirit-filled Christians who have “eyes to see” that your so-called “divine appointment” is a doctrine of man, not of GOD.

Exhibit A: your goofy Marxist manpleaser, francis. Divinely appointed, my eye.

>> There is no citation anywhere in Canon Law, Holy Scripture or traditional Church teaching that allows for having both a Pope and a “Pope Emeritus” ... The entire mess is a grand fabrication <<

You might want to read about the papacy of Pope Celestine V (who resigned as Pope in December 1294 but died in May 1296) and his successor, Pope Boniface VIII (who reigned as Pope from December 1294 to October 1303)

Perhaps because Pope Benedict XVI (Ratzinger) did not wish to suffer the same fate of Pope John Paul I, who was summarily murdered (poisoned) by the Freemasons immediately after his election to the papacy.

The Masons and communists long ago infiltrated the Church - and saw to it that the seminaries were saturated with sodomites. The “smoke of satan” has penetrated the Church at its highest levels.

Pope John XXIII (Roncalli) was a Freemason, as was Pope Paul VI (Montini) - who was also a flaming sodomite (irrefutable evidence of both - which is why the first attempt at his beatification was quietly rescinded).

The Church has suffered a putsch - its “silent Revolution of 1917” ... It is a test by God so to separate the wheat from the chaff.

You know God is pissed when he allows his people to fall into the hands of corrupt leaders - both secular and ecclesiastical.

“Interesting times” in which we now live, no?

Ignorance may be cured - but stupidity is FOREVER ... One day, you’ll discover that truth - but at that point it will be too late.

I am catholic and feel so very frustrated with all that is going on with this pope. I know in my heart something just isn’t right with this pope and the admiration of him by so many scoundrels. I also feel like there’s a reason Benedict is still pope...because Francis is either a very weak confusing man or at worst incidious.

You’ll be really surprised by all the non-Catholic Christians you’ll find in heaven. And you’ll be a little bit embarrassed too by some of the things you have said here on earth, such as that last post of yours. Thanks to JESUS, you are forgiven, and we’ll enjoy a good laugh about it.

By the way, don’t sweat purgatory; it’ll be over for you before you know it. ;-)

Jorge Bergoglio is a total scoundrel, a thug, and a megalomaniac - look at his doings while the Arch Bishop of Buenos Aries, Argentina. He is an anti-pope; however, he is not the first such scoundrel in the history of the Church. Recall the Pope is only infallible when deciding an issue of faith and morals, in union with all the Bishops, and declaring solemnly such doctrine excatholica - from the Seat of Peter. A VERY RESTRICTIVE and NARROWLY DEFINED POWER - which far too many Catholics misunderstand, to the advantage of the Church’s enemies.

Ratzinger was the one who kept pressuring John Paul II to force the bishops to take meaningful actions against pedophile priests.

“Ask Pope John Paul I about coups. Oh wait, he’s dead.”

Murdered after 33 days in office-—Why? Because he knew the homomafia had control of the Vatican Bank and he was going to shake it all up and get rid of the homomafia who took over the powers/bank according to several books I read, that seemed credible.

Fr. Oko’s Report and many books document this Marxism homosexual infiltration-—starting with the warnings of Pope Pius X in his encyclicals as early as 1907. Bella Dodd, a Communist agent, facilitated getting thousands of Marxist homomafia into the seminaries in the 30s and 40s to eventually fill top positions of power (looks like they succeeded).

And she was murdered after being baptized (converting) by Bishop Fulton Sheen and documenting the infiltration in a book. Pope Benedict had this report written so he might have been going to do something with the homomafia. The “Smoke of Satan” has entered the Church with the “spirit” of VII, was actually something that Pope Paul VI stated. He knew that the homosexuals were having Black Masses actually inside the Vatican back then.
