Ben Carson has surged into a statistical dead heat with Donald Trump in the race for the 2016 GOP nomination, a new poll shows.
According to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday, Trump still leads the race, with the support of 21% of Republican primary voters across the U.S., but Carson follows with 20% — well within the poll’s 6-percentage-point margin of error.
Just weeks ago, Trump was still the clear front-runner but Carson has been steadily gaining on him since Trump’s average performance in the second Republican debate earlier this month.
And just one month ago, in the July NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, Carson attracted only 10% support, compared with Trump’s 19%.
In the latest poll, former tech exec Carly Fiorina and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio tied for third, both getting 11% support, while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush came in fourth with 7%.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz followed with 6% and 5%, respectively, while no other candidate received more than 3% support.
Meanwhile, NBC/Wall Street Journal polling of the Democratic candidates, also released Sunday, showed their race for the nomination tightening too.

PMSNBC/Murdock’s WSJ didn’t poll New Hampshire much in this poll since Carson is down to 8% in the latest NH poll.
The funny thing is that Trump IS an insider. Do you think he isn’t intimately familiar and on good terms with most big time power players?
There are two outsiders in the race: Carson, who’s a 100% outsider, and Ted Cruz.
“But Cruz is a U.S. Senator,” you object? Yes. And he’s spent every waking moment since being elected earning the enmity of his party leadership, the Dems and Dem leadership, and the entire D.C. power structure.
Yes, I know his wife works for Goldman Sachs. If THAT qualifies him as an insider, then so be it. I think that’s a stretch.
Anybody who is called a “jackass” by John Boehner and a “wackobird” by John McStain has earned his outsider bona fides!

Totally made up numbers. But we should all know how the establishment operates by now.
We were just discussing how manipulated, dishonest and fraudulent nearly everything has become. Government, television, politics, a good percentage of people, business, churches etc. Sometime I find it almost overwhelming. I personally have lost trust in nearly everything involving humans. I wish it weren’t so but it is what it is.

I just saw somewhere, and now I cannot find it, criticism of this poll. I was in a hurry and didn't have a chance to find out. Hard to imagine them being tied in view of the difference in size of crowds they attract.
I saw that. On FR? It discussed the same poll but with Hillary and Bernie results. Same point. Rigged.
WSJ is more in the tank for anyone-but-Trump than any other publication or media. The WALL STREET Journal. Hey guys, get your head out of the money bag long enough to consider some other issues once in a while.

The Hillary sample was less than 300 people. I assume the same about the Republican sample. That is extremely small and I’m surprised they can say 6% moe with such a small sample.
I wonder what the history of their sample sizes has been? I imagine in a presidential race they seldom if ever go below 1200 likely voters.
I personally like Carson as far as personal admiration goes. But he is NOT presidential material IMO, especially now when a strong, determined, and aggressive leader is needed to turn this ship of state around. Carson is too laid back and doesn’t have the moxie , IMO, to stand toe to toe with the Ruskies, the Muslims, the Chinese or the Left.
I hope this is as phony a poll as people are saying it is.
