Ann Coulter's Jew problem
American Thinker ^ | 09/17/2015 | Carol Brown

Posted on 09/17/2015 8:38:16 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

After the GOP debate on Wednesday night, Ann Coulter sent out the following tweets.  As left-leaning Israeli newspaper Haaretz noted:

Coulter, who has 660,000 Twitter followers, was reacting to the frequent mentions of Israel made by participants in the second televised Republican debate held Wednesday at the Ronald Reagan Library in California.

As to Coulter’s tweet at the top, the candidates were asked how the world would look different once Air Force One was parked in the hangar of their presidential library.  (See debate transcript here.)

Coulter misrepresented the question in her tweet and then used it as an opportunity to bash candidates who included Israel in their answer.  But more than bash candidates, she bashed Israel and Jews.  And it was as if she were champing at the bit to do so.

I have never been a fan of Ann Coulter and have often wondered why she is such a darling of the right.  She appears immature, haughty, obnoxious, full of herself, and self-conscious (enough with the hair gesture, Ann), and sometimes downright vile.

You’re absolutely correct. I don’t know what she was thinking. She had to be drinking...why else would she destroy her reputation in this way?

It’s used to intensify her whole statement and point. To apply that to your statement which has no other point other than to identify someone as Jewish is completely different.

She could’ve moved the word around to “how many Jews do they f-—in think” It would have been less ambiguous but in terms of what she meant, it would mean the same thing.

Coulter has been going after Adelson and Zuckerberg. I think that she is infected by grievances and has been spending too much time reading her friends at VDare.com, some of whom have a problem with Jews, or have a puerile interest in attacking Jews or Israel as a revenge on leftist Jews, many of whom don’t care about Israel.

Meanwhile the dissident right as a whole has been infected by the cuckservative trend of childishness and grievance. Cuckservative is short for cuckold conservative. It was started by white nationalists, who believe that conservatives are standing by as a non-white America is being created. Because it originated with white nationalist, the term has been used not only to attack open-borders and pro-immigration people, but has taken on an openly antisemitic tone. For too many, any support of Israel is cuckservatism.
Of course, rational people supporting lower immigration and buildign a wall would not post screeds about the need fo rIsrael to be diversified, or claim that Americans who support Israel are cuckservatives. Rather they would suggest that we follow the example of Israel. Grievance is destroys rational thought. Antisemitism rots the mind and soul. Coulter should apologize and grow up.

The language is offensive and intolerable. That said, she does call attention to the inability of many — most — on the so-called “right” to distinguish between the interests of Israel and those of the United States.

The question was about how the world would change. It is hard to mention the Middle East without mentioning Israel. Are these candidates also reaching out to evangelicals? Sure. But Israel and America have many of the same interests here. We have overlapping interests on terrorism, preventing the creation of a Caliphate, and preventing Iran or more Sunni nations from getting nuclear weapons. (A nuclear Sunni Pakistan is problem enough!)

I’ll repeat my comment from yesterday’s thread.
Obviously this will be interpreted as run of the mill right wing antisemitism.

There is no indication that she was mimicking Hillary, that doesn't hold water. As indicated by her further comments.

I like the Jews, I like fetuses, I like Reagan. Didn't need to hear applause lines about them all night.

Simple, point to her many comments about too much attention to f***king pro lifers and f***ing Reagan admirers.

No matter, the damage is done, though it should be noted that if candidates were pandering, it was more to please f***ing Evangelicals, not Jewish voters

with a few additions.

Leaving aside Ann’s past comments about a Jew free America would be better (perfect the Jews not eliminate them) and her accompanying bizarre comment that Christianity is the Fedex religion (no rules like Judaism, you just go straight to heaven, they should convert-never understood why Christians weren’t offended), the transcript can be found here.

The question is near the end

TAPPER: OK, here's the more serious question, Ronald Reagan, the 40th President, used the plane behind you to accomplish a great many things. Perhaps, most notably, to challenge Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the wall, and ultimately, to make peace with the USSR.

How will the world look different once your Air Force One is parked in the hangar of your presidential library?

I won’t offend Coulter supporters by suggesting she deliberately posed it as How will the world AMERICA look different once your Air Force One is parked in the hangar of your presidential library?. That might imply motivation. It was a long night, it was the last or second to last question, and after all Israel was mentioned 7 times before that. The mideast being a peaceful place, she probably couldn’t understand that.

The Israel references for those interested.

HUCKABEE: At the end of my presidency I would like to believe that the world would be a safe place, and there wouldn't be the threats. not only to the U.S., but to Israel and our allies, because we would have the most incredible well-trained, well-equipped, well- prepared military in the history of mankind.

RUBIO: One of the things that made Ronald Reagan a great president, is that he understood that America was a unique nation, like any other that had existed throughout human history. He knew it was founded on universal principles that were powerful, the dignity of all people, human rights, the rights of all to live in freedom and liberty, and choose their own path in life. He didn't just believe it, he acted on it. That's why bringing down communism was so important to him. If I'm honored with the opportunity to be president, I hope that our Air Force One will fly, first and foremost, to our allies; in Israel, in South Korea, and Japan. They know we stand with them. That America can be counted on.

CRUZ: Ronald Reagan believed in America.

If I'm elected president our friends and allies across the globe will know that we stand with them. the bust of Winston Churchill will be back in the Oval Office, and the American embassy in Israel will be in Jerusalem.

Enemies across this world will know the United States is not to be trifled with. ISIS will be defeated. We will have a president willing to utter the words, "radical Islamic terrorism," and the Ayatollah Khamenei will understand that he will never, ever, ever acquire nuclear weapons.

I don’t see much evidence of pandering. Plenty do, just check out the Twitter feed, #IstandWithAnn.

Funny reading old posts (96). The more things change, the more they don't

She is entitled to her common Christian theology, but during an election year and a war on terror, what she sad was bad. Instead of attacking Henry Waxman, Hillary's money laundering, the Fairness Doctrine, the military haters, and Arab threats on Rudi Guiliani's life, this is another bad distraction. The left is jumping on everything as an excuse to push their agenda....Having said that, it will give great fodder for the drive-by media to skewer anything that she says, and by proxy what the conservative movement says.

That's right, my post from the other thread. The dems and media will make hay with this one. Boost her book sales though.

Ann's a bombthrower, and she's out for Ann. This will help her personally. To the extent she's associated with the Republican Party, and as I noted during the faggot incident excitement, that association should be minimized.

The JDC's call for her to be boycotted is absurd, however criticism should be expected. Essentially she characterized the Republican as a Christian party, and advanced the position that the nation would be a better place without Jews.

I doubt she believes that, but it's a stupid statement if one is trying to advance a political agenda. Smart if the intent is personal aggrandizement. This won't hurt her book sales a bit. My bold.

DEUTSCH: Let me ask you a question. We're going to get off strengths and weakness for a second. If you had your way, and all of your – forget that any of them –

COULTER: I like this.

DEUTSCH: – are calculated marketing teases, and your dreams, which are genuine, came true having to do with immigration, having to do with women's – with abortion – what would this country look like?

DEUTSCH: And what did that look like?

COULTER: It would look like New York City during the Republican National Convention. In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like.

COULTER: Happy, joyful Republicans in the greatest city in the world.

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, no, but I'm talking about this country. You don't want to make this country – it's not about Republicans. I'm saying, what would the fabric of this country look like? Forget that the Republicans would be running the show.

COULTER: Well, everyone would root for America, the Democratic Party would look like [Sen.] Joe Lieberman [I-CT], the Republican Party would look like [Rep.] Duncan Hunter [R-CA] –

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, I don't want – I'm not talking about politically the landscape. What would our – would we be safer? Would people be happier? Would they be more –

COULTER: We would be a lot safer.

DEUTSCH: Would there be more tolerance? Would there be – would women be happier, would the races get along better? The Ann Coulter subscription – prescription. What – tell me what would be different in our fabric of country, because –

COULTER: Well, all of those things.

DEUTSCH: – I can give – I can give you an argument there would be more divisiveness, that there would be more hate –

COULTER: Oh, no.

DEUTSCH: – that there would be a bigger difference between the rich and the poor, a lot of other – tell me what – why this would be a better world? Let's give you – I'm going to give you – say this is your show.

COULTER: Well, OK, take the Republican National Convention. People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America, they –

DEUTSCH: Christian – so we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?

COULTER: Yes.

DEUTSCH: We should all be Christian?

COULTER: Yes. Would you like to come to church with me, Donny?

DEUTSCH: So I should not be a Jew, I should be a Christian, and this would be a better place?

COULTER: Well, you could be a practicing Jew, but you're not.

DEUTSCH: I actually am. That's not true. I really am. But – so we would be better if we were - if people – if there were no Jews, no Buddhists –

COULTER: Whenever I'm harangued by –

DEUTSCH: – in this country? You can't believe that.

COULTER: – you know, liberals on diversity –

DEUTSCH: Here you go again.

COULTER: No, it's true. I give all of these speeches at megachurches across America, and the one thing that's really striking about it is how utterly, completely diverse they are, and completely unself-consciously. You walk past a mixed-race couple in New York, and it's like they have a chip on their shoulder. They're just waiting for somebody to say something, as if anybody would. And –

DEUTSCH: I don't agree with that. I don't agree with that at all. Maybe you have the chip looking at them. I see a lot of interracial couples, and I don't see any more or less chips there either way. That's erroneous.

COULTER: No. In fact, there was an entire "Seinfeld" episode about Elaine and her boyfriend dating because they wanted to be a mixed-race couple, so you're lying.

DEUTSCH: Oh, because of some "Seinfeld" episode? OK.

COULTER: But yeah, I think that's reflective of what's going on in the culture, but it is completely striking that at these huge megachurches – the idea that, you know, the more Christian you are, the less tolerant you would be is preposterous.

DEUTSCH: That isn't what I said, but you said I should not – we should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians, then, or –

COULTER: Yeah.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track.

DEUTSCH: Really?

COULTER: Yeah. You have to obey.

DEUTSCH: You can't possibly believe that.

COULTER: Yes.

DEUTSCH: You can't possibly – you're too educated, you can't – you're like my friend in –

COULTER: Do you know what Christianity is? We believe your religion, but you have to obey.

DEUTSCH: No, no, no, but I mean –

COULTER: We have the fast-track program.

DEUTSCH: Why don't I put you with the head of Iran? I mean, come on. You can't believe that.

COULTER: The head of Iran is not a Christian.

DEUTSCH: No, but in fact, "Let's wipe Israel" –

COULTER: I don't know if you've been paying attention.

DEUTSCH: "Let's wipe Israel off the earth." I mean, what, no Jews?

COULTER: No, we think – we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say.

DEUTSCH: Wow, you didn't really say that, did you?

COULTER: Yes. That is what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners –

DEUTSCH: In my old days, I would have argued – when you say something absurd like that, there's no –

COULTER: What's absurd?

DEUTSCH: Jews are going to be perfected. I'm going to go off and try to perfect myself –

COULTER: Well, that's what the New Testament says.

DEUTSCH: Ann Coulter, author of "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans," and if Ann Coulter had any brains, she would not say Jews need to be perfected. I'm offended by that personally. And we'll have more "Big Idea" when we come back.

DEUTSCH: Welcome back to "The Big Idea." During the break, Ann said she wanted to explain her last comment. So I'm going to give her a chance. So you don't think that was offensive?

COULTER: No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be. I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to, you know, live up to all the laws. What Christians believe – this is just a statement of what the New Testament is – is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament.

DEUTSCH: You said – your exact words were, "Jews need to be perfected." Those are the words out of your mouth.

COULTER: No, I'm saying that's what a Christian is.

DEUTSCH: But that's what you said – don't you see how hateful, how anti-Semitic –

COULTER: No!

DEUTSCH: How do you not see? You're an educated woman. How do you not see that?

COULTER: That isn't hateful at all.

DEUTSCH: But that's even a scarier thought. OK –

COULTER: No, no, no, no, no. I don't want you being offended by this. This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean, [Rev. Jerry] Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all.

DEUTSCH: We will let the audience decide then, won't we? Ann Coulter. New book. More "Big Idea" straight ahead.

WHY pander to 2 percent of the population who are liberals anyway?

What an asinine thing to say! Do you (and Ann) think Jews are the only ones who care about Israel? I admit that I have divided loyalties. I've never stepped foot in Israel, but I care deeply and profoundly about the nation of Israel and the Jewish people. It matters a great deal to me how resolutely the candidates align themselves with the plight of Israel in these extremely troubled times.

The next president is going to have to undo a lot of damage that the puppet of satan who sits in our White House has done during his administration. That you and Ann the Hideous think addressing Israel in this election discussion is pandering is frighteningly telling. Perhaps satan's puppet has been more effective than I could have imagined. Not a surprise though. A couple of thousand years ago, God told us these kinds of things would happen.

Maranatha.

I posted my support for Israel too and that support is not predicated on the political strength, or lack thereof, of the American Jewish population.
