eremy Corbyn, a longtime left-wing Labour politician, won his party's leadership contest in a landslide vote this morning. And Donald Trump accidentally congratulated him. Into his endless timeline of compliments and insults came a sincere-looking comment from @HamishP95, a self-described Labour Party member with a couple hundred followers. Trump retweeted it.

Here is another example of why knowing things matters. It wasn't an unfair pop quiz that got the dilettante this time.

Trump isn’t a conservative.

Jonah Goldberg made that point and was attacked by Freepers for it.

Conservatives who support Trump should know he’s not a movement man and will never be.

I keep on top of all things British and I barely know Jeremy Corbyn, or whatever his name is. And what’s so wrong in thanking him, may I ask? If this guy becomes Prime Minister, and Trump wins, he’ll have to repair the relationship between the two countries that Obama so trashed. This is getting silly. Who can forget that Cameron flunked some pop quiz on British history that Letterman so insultingly gave him but it didn’t stop Cameron from being and remaining PM. Try something else!

Of course Trump isn't a conservative. He's a product of New York City. I like it when he's on issue. I like it when he's talking policy. I even like it when he is boldly anti-PC.

Lobbing insults around like grenades. That part I don't like.

But the question has to be asked, how could Trump be tricked into anything? I've read enough FReepers who are convinced that he's the smartest man in the world to make the thought of Trump being “tricked” into an impossibility.

Oh this is bad. Can you imagine the debates with Hillary and he doesn’t even know anything about foreign affairs. You know that is what they will focus on because that is Clinton’s strong suit. It would be foreign policy every debate to make Trump look weak next to Hillary. Trump needs to desperately learn these things.

What a silly criticism of Trump. The tweet was saying the guy’s dad wants to vote for him. Had nothing to do with England or Labour. If the Labour guy’s photo was in the tweet the problem is Trump didn’t know the photo? Puleeze

You kjnow I’m getting real tired of all this constant, “ This one or that one isn’t a real conservative.” Look at he the last batch of, “real conservatives,” we elected. They have really proven to be, “real conservatives,” haven’t they.

How about we elect, A REAL AMERICAN, one that has American values. One that can and will stand up for this country and not make the claim that, “ I’m the conservative running.”

That claim means nothing as been proven by the last batch that made that claim and FAILED.

The new labour leader is the best thing to happy to Tories and outsider parties like UKIP. Labour is headed toward a very bleak future especially if the newly emboldened Scottish Independence movement succeeds. I don’t see a problem with congratulations. Its what people do.

No. she will be able to throw out names that trump will look at her puzzled by who they are. I have heard her talk about various leaders and she knows their names and what they do. Trump clearly doesn’t.

Yeah, because knowing who leads a labor party in England is so critical. What a joke. I want someone who DOESN’T know the name or every fat farting potentate around the world, someone who doesn’t have a nickname for them, who doesn’t feel closer to them than to the American people. Someone who doesn’t know their hopes, dream, and secret fears.

I want a president who is focused on America first. If someone wants to deal with us, maybe they need to be the ones learning all they can about us for a change.
