Here is a Carson's interview yesterday on CNN. Low energy, weak, and disingenuous answers. His answers about using aborted babies in research is troubling. Says he didn't have time to ask. Where have we heard this research more important than morality and ethics meme?

I think that’s correct. I keep maintaining that Carson is the Trump “parking lot.” He is where people, not quite ready to commit to Trump because of the Christian angle, or his bluster, go to put their “votes” until they are forced to choose. Some of that choice will be made by “electability.” Is the guy you’re going to vote for really going to get the nomination, or will your vote ensure someone you really don’t want gets the nomination (i.e., a GOPe type). I think a portion of Carson’s people will bite the bullet and go with Trump at that point.

Carson is what he is. I’d support him but I see him far more likely to be compromised once in Washington DC. He can’t handle not being seen as a nice guy. We have no perfect candidates. I fully expect the GOP Establishment to get behind Carson eventually if it becomes a choice between Trump and Carson. They want someone who they can ultimately control. Trump’s flaw to the GOP-E isn’t in his lack of conservative purity but in that he will not be controlled and will not tow the party line on open borders cheap labor globalist trade. Carson who is increasingly embracing the internationalist position on immigration will be seen as the most compatible once the GOP-E give up on the non starters Jeb, & Kasich.

I’ve read some of his OP EDs before he announced a year plus ago and I wasn’t amused in the slightest. He’s a “go along” right up there with the best of them, IMO. And his position on regional allowance/prohibition for certain types of weapons is ABSURD - that alone disqualifies him in my book. A highly intelligent and successful man - but not my cup of tea.

My personal opinion is that if the man wasn’t black he wouldn’t even be in the race because most people wouldn’t give him a second look. Doctor? We’ve had them on the scene before - none of them turned out to be shining stars. We have a lot of this in the race for 2016 now; a WOMAN (W-O-M-A-N with a vagina), Hyphenated Americans of all the UN flavors - Indian, Mexican, Cuban, African. And yes we even have some who like to pretend they are Latino.

An AMERICAN is what we need, an AMERICAN is what we deserve. He/she needs to be truly conservative and a rigid Constitutionalist and not a world order loving appeaser/equivocator.

Carson has guts. He's the only person who took it to Obama face to face about Obamacare. His press conference in Nevada was very good.

That’s all well and good but I gave you my reasons and no amount of Obamacare flak to Obama or other platform points that resonate with RINOs or liberals is going to change that. I know what he is. That’s about all I’ve got to say about him. If he can get enough real votes, then more power to him. That will just mean my whole life’s beliefs are now moot.

Here's my theory on the support Carson is getting in the polls.

There is still a group of Republicans that are not ready to declare their support for Trump. On the other hand, they are definitely not wanting to support another establishment career politician.

Carson gives them a place to safely "park their vote" while they take a little more time to observe Trump. They are likely future Trump voters in waiting.

Supporting Carson also gives them a warm, fuzzy feeling that they are supporting a black candidate and they are proud to tell this to pollsters (and co-workers), to demonstrate their enlightenment in this regard. But the reality is that most of them really don't know much about Carson except he's a very accomplished and pleasant man. In the end, most are going to pull the lever for Trump when the time comes.

So when looking at these polls, add the Trump and Carson vote, subtract maybe 5 or 6 points (as some truly are supporters of Carson) and you are pretty close to the actual Trump vote.

Carly Fiorina could also be benefiting from this "anti-politician" wave but she torpedoed her chances by leaguing herself with the establishment and joining the "attack Trump" bandwagon.
