I disagree about “okay doctor.” Ben Carson is brilliant. DT needs to pick a different point to stick on.

Paul White Ministeries

August 30, 2015: Trump Hosts Televangelists Who Fleece Their Flocks

...”White, who hosts a TV show called Paula White Today on The Word Network and pastors New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida… took the helm at that church after its former shepherd died of a heroin and cocaine overdose.

Trump and White have been friends for years, which makes sense because they have a lot in common. In addition to having their own popular TV shows, they’re on their third marriage—Trump’s to former model Melania Trump, and White’s to the keyboardist for Journey.

Trump has been a guest on her programming numerous times, and they seem to be big fans of each other. He’s called her “a beautiful person, both inside and out,” and recommended that viewers read her book You’re All That: Understanding God’s Design For Your Life so they would “be ready for great success.” White has compared him to “a diamond that reveals a new facet each time it is turned in the light,” ..

White, like Trump, is also a big fan of cash. She’s typically characterized as a proponent of the prosperity gospel—a theologically suspect approach to Christianity whereby pastors (often before huge congregations or on TV broadcasts) tell listeners that God wants them to become very wealthy, and that if they just give “a seed” to said pastors’ ministries, they’ll reap great financial returns and be #blessed. White’s e-store features a sermon called “Why God Wants You Wealthy.” Of course, Donald Trump wants people to be rich as well, which is why White once offered her viewers—for a ministry contribution of $25—a copy of Trump’s book Why We Want You to Be Rich. Everyone wants you to be rich! Praise the Lord!

White’s website has…interesting deals. One (your correspondent’s personal favorite) is called the “2015 Atonement Package.”...

Aug 26, 2015: Donald Trump Plans Meeting With Evangelicals

“.......The invitation states Mr. Trump aims to meet with “selected Christian leaders and ministry professionals.” Ms. Withum referred questions about the invitation to Mr. Trump’s aides.

Michael Cohen, the executive vice president of the Trump Organization, said the New York developer will meet with “a significant number of pastors from across the country that will be coming to meet with Mr. Trump for a prayer service.”

Mr. Cohen said the gathering is being organized not by the Trump campaign or the Trump Organization, which oversees Mr. Trump’s business interests. Instead he said “the evangelical community,” led by Paula White, a Florida evangelical preacher with a daily television show on The Word Network, was arranging the session.”..........

You know doggone well it was Carson who questioned Trump’s faith.
Of course you do, how silly of me.

Then Carson touted his own humility....
....that’s not how humility works

If I were Trump I would not be attacking Carson if I really wanted to win. He has large numbers of admirers, and as a running mate he’d make you virtually unbeatable.

Carson was the youngest man ever to head up a department at Johns Hopkins—pediatric neurosurgery.

He headed a team of 70 to perform the first ever separation of twins joined at the head.

Trump thinks he’s bigger than God; his attack on Carson for “religiosity” should tell us what he really thinks about devout people. His attack on Carson as a doctor shows how little he knows about doctors. This is possibly his most slimy attack yet. Be prepared to see him walk it back while claiming he was misquoted, loves Doctor Carson, and was attacked first.

Good try CW, but just an OK try. I don’t think you’re going to convince many of us that still support Trump’s effort to kill PC and to melt the heavy wax that has built-up in, around, and through our body politic. The game is rough and tumble and Trump responds unapologetically.

"He was a doctor, perhaps an OK doctor, by the way. You should check that out too. We're not talking about a great [doctor]. He was an OK doctor," Trump said.

UGH. That just makes him sound so petty.

There are only two ways to take this comment: 1- DT was attempting sarcastic humor, or 2- his ignorance is starting to trip him up.

I vote #2.

If Donald unwinds - mainly because he can’t help himself - I hope Ted and Ben stay far away from the spotlight, then, swoop in and say the right things. Those right things are not talking about Trump, but instead, jobs, healthcare, immigration and such. I.e., saving the country and the Constitution.

The rising popularity of Trump despite the fact that he is coarse and egotistical is a reflection of the absolute frustration many have for the Washington political elite, personified by Jeb Bush, the ‘my turn’ favorite of the RNC.

We’ve tried the humble approach (G.W. Bush- who left office with a job approval rating in the 20’s) and it usually fails. Dr. Carson is a nice man, obviously devout and indisputably an excellent surgeon. Trump was foolish to attack him on his medical abilities.

Carson’s quiet manner of speaking is hardly inspiring and Trump had a point there. Unlike most, Trump is not afraid to criticize Carson just because Carson is black. Trump was also correct that, although Carson is well-liked, he will not be our next president.

He somehow seems to be exempt from the normal PC rules that other candidates are forced to observe. People seem to expect him to act Trumpish and when he does they just shrug.

I have no idea how he pulls it off while being opposed by the MSM 24/7

Go Trump!

More wisecracks, we need more wisecracks....

He says something like "Just look at that face!" (Fiorina) And people think... "She is pretty homely at that"

Normal folk understand that it's often funny to poke fun at someone you oppose... just remember all the gleeful jabs taken at Nancy Pelosi's hideous visage right here on FR

I'd have omitted any criticism of Carson's medical skills...but what do I know. IMO Carson has made some ridiculous policy statements of late.. I'd have stuck to making wisecracks about those.

I'm really surprised at the people here who don't understand snark and hyperbole.

A man like Trump doesn't become a business success by not realizing potential in someone like Carson.

Carsons greatness at being a surgeon is well known and obvious.

Carson poked the bear with a stick and the grizzly swung back.

"He was a doctor, perhaps an OK doctor, by the way. You should check that out too. We're not talking about a great [doctor]. He was an OK doctor," Trump said.

I certainly don't agree with Carson on everything, but this statement is ridiculous.

Dr. Carson was the first surgeon to ever separate twins conjoined at the brain, it is pathetic to suggest that this isn't a great accomplishment by a great surgeon.

Trump is continuing to show how petty he actually is.

This is a LOSER for Trump. There is no formula for a winning GOP candidate that doesn’t include Evangelicals. He needs to restrict his personal attacks to the real enemies; Obama, Clinton, and the GOPe.
