Donald Trump just eviscerated a new [as in,"latest"] GOP rival
Business Insider ^ | September 10, 2015 | Colin Campbell

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is now tearing into one of the rivals he long declined to criticize: retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

In a CNN interview on Thursday, the real-estate magnate attacked Carson's religiosity, persona, qualifications for the presidency, views on abortion — and even his medical record.

"He was a doctor, perhaps an OK doctor, by the way. You should check that out too. We're not talking about a great [doctor]. He was an OK doctor," Trump said.

As a doctor, Carson drew national attention at John Hopkins "by conducting a succession of operations that had never been performed successfully," according to The New York Times, "most famously planning and managing the first separation of conjoined twins connected through major blood vessels in the brain."

Trump said he was criticizing Carson because the retired brain surgeon took a shot at him the day before. CNN reported that Carson was asked at an event how he was different from Trump, and he responded by comparing their faith in God.

"Probably the biggest thing — I've realized where my success has come from and I don't in anyway deny my faith in God," replied Carson, a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. "By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life, and that's a very big part of who I am. I don't get that impression with him."

Some political observers have suggested that Trump could struggle to win over evangelical voters because of his casual public approach to his own religion. For example, Trump has said he doesn't seek forgiveness from God and referred to Holy Communion as eating "my little cracker" and drinking "my little wine."

That picture you posted of Fiorina was taken after her treatment for cancer and a double mastectomy.

I listened to Carson take a poke at Trump. Surely you’re not telling me that I didn’t hear what my own ears heard are you?

Well, after we had a president who dropped his drawers and said “Kiss it!” I can’t understand the pearl-clutching because Trump is supposedly “coarse” and vulgar. What a bunch of prissy Victorians we have on FR.

The media are trying to get sound bites from Carson and Fiorina to bash Trump. Then they ask Trump for his response and vice versa. I saw the whole CNN interview this morning. They asked Trump what he thought of Carson’s attack on his faith and he said he does not even know him and who is he to question his faith? Then the other criticisms followed. Carson was asked what the major difference between him and Trump is. Cruz answered more intelligently when asked. He said he would not say things the same way because of different personalities, but they agree on a lot. Carson answered regarding Trumps faith and humility and that got personal in an area most people don’t go. He probably felt that could help him in Iowa too. At any rate, when you say you are more humble than Joe Blow, that can make you more self righteous than Joe Blow and consequently not all that humble either! lol!

Wow, talk about taking off on a tangent.

Carson was asked why he is different. He responded in a calm manner. Everything Carson said was correct.

Trump made a personal attack based on a falsehood.

I certainly don't agree with Carson on everything, but this statement is ridiculous.

Dr. Carson was the first surgeon to ever separate twins conjoined at the brain, it is pathetic to suggest that this isn't a great accomplishment by a great surgeon.

Trump is continuing to show how petty he actually is.

I’m amazed at times how well The Donald plays the game. I wonder if he ever participated in the sport of fencing.

This is a LOSER for Trump. There is no formula for a winning GOP candidate that doesn’t include Evangelicals. He needs to restrict his personal attacks to the real enemies; Obama, Clinton, and the GOPe.

yup ... a couuple of more of these and it’ll be buh bye to Trump

Famous last words.

But seriously, I know that as a Trump supporter he's going to say things that I disagree with and wish he hadn't said. This attack on Carson is one of those things.

Trump is experienced by the REAL WORLD.

He's seen so many politicians ride along on their "Christianity".

Christians are AWFUL at following the herd when they HEAR someone is a "Christian".

For a lot of Christians, they put their brains on hold, once they hear someone is (or might be) a Christian.

Trump is just giving them a little wake up slap upside the head.

You’re being a CarsonBot.

Carson clearly was referring to Trump, and ironically, Carson talked about how humble a guy that Carson really is.

I listened to Carson say that when it comes to religion that Trump is not nearly as humble as Carson himself is.

Irony is right. How humble is it when you proclaim your own superior humility?

I think Trump is wrong to belittle Crason's medical achievements. By all acounts he's a brilliant surgeon...but don't poke the bear with a stick if you don't want to get your head yanked off.

Bingo. Dead on.

We aren’t electing a Pope. We are electing a President. This is why the GOP is known as the stupid party.
