Donald Trump on Kim Davis case: ‘The Supreme Court has ruled’
Washington Times ^ | 09/04/2015 | David Sherfinski

Posted on 09/04/2015 5:12:31 AM PDT by GIdget2004

Bottom line, host Joe Scarborough said, is that if Supreme Court makes a decision, that’s the law of land, right?

“You have to go with it,” Mr. Trump said. “The decision’s been made, and that is the law of the land.”

“She can take a pass and let somebody else in the office do it in terms of religious, so you know, it’s a very … tough situation, but we are a nation, as I said yesterday, we’re a nation of laws,” he said. “And I was talking about borders and I was talking about other things, but you know, it applies to this, also, and the Supreme Court has ruled."

Trump is a very calculating strategic thinker, irregardless of what his personal position appears to be at the moment. In fact, his goal and individual motivation is POWER. He thrives on it.

For Trump, the individual issues are wrapping paper to merely have him appear in a way that manipulates the public to give him what he wants. Do not believe what Trump appears to be on the surface. Just as Obama tried to appear as a Christian and more centrist, we ultimately found him to be ultra left, Trump is positioning himself. Underneath, I’m not sure that Trump has a core set of moral values that can identify who he really is.

Even his fight with Fox News was strategic. How else could he get the main stream news media to support him? Who do the main stream news media hate more than a Republican? Fox News! He was just positioning himself so they would accept him. This man is unbelievably strategic. Do I trust him? Not at all. But he is one of the most strategic thinkers I have ever observed. Do not underestimate him. He sees a much bigger picture than the other politicians and is willing to lose a few battles on purpose just to set up his opposition so he can win the war.

That’s not what I said.

I think that is what you said. You say it again in this next statement.

Working for the gov’t or being a public servant is a little different, you give up control somewhat or find something else to do.

In other words, give up very standard, basic christian tenets or give up your job.

What is happening in America is that whether private or public occupations, christians are being forced to comply to what would be a perversion.

And the standard response from many public figures is that "it is the law of the land", or "just give up on this little bit".

How about if Christians forced a law that made you pray for ten minutes on the job every day? The cry of anguish will be so loud- there won't be anyone asking for giving up control and compliance.

The difference is that here, because the USSC struck down the marriage law of the state (general ruling not a specific as to sections) there is no law authorizing the clerk to issue marriage licenses in that state. Until the legislative body passes a new law shes IS following the law by issuing no marriage licenses at all.

I tend to believe you have presented the salient ‘air’ about this situation. The queers were not truly/honestly concerned about their ‘marriage’. They were out to break down any resistance to their desires. There were other places/clerks that would accommodate their plan for a marriage but they like what has been going on for years wanted to break down any remaining resistance to their Sodom-Gomorra perversions. There are elected and appointed judges of the same perversion.

Congress can address the issue by passing a statute and the president signing it.

“You have to go with it,” Mr. Trump said. “The decision’s been made, and that is the law of the land.”

Nonsense. The Supreme Court is NOT the legislative branch of the government.

Five appointed men or women do not have the privilege of making the laws for the entire country for us.

I hope and somewhat expect Trump to reconsider his expressed remarks regarding this.

It is a complete loser for him and it could undermine his candidacy as it completely contradicts his political raison d’etre.

He can’t be soaking illegal immigration laws need to be enforced, while saying ignore this law. He would look like a cherry-picking hypocrite.

OTOH, bad laws need to be removed. At one time, being part of England was the law of the land.

"...First, whenever we get to that elusive and ever-receding “hill to die on,” we will discover, upon our arrival there, that it only looked like a hill to die on from a distance. Up close, when the possible dying is also up close, it kind of looks like every other hill. All of a sudden it looks like a hill to stay alive on, covered over with topsoil that looks suspiciously like common ground.

So it turns out that surrendering hills is not the best way to train for defending the most important ones. Retreat is habit-forming."

Yes, polls six months before the first primaries should determine who we support.

No accusations from me, but without going into lengthy explanations, the Corker bill had every intention of fixing a wrong. It disturbs me that when they accuse Cruz of willy nilly voting for something he knew to be wrong just isn’t true. That is not Ted Cruz.
I am happy to see you will give him a chance.

“She is currently obeying the law by not issuing licenses because she currently has no authority to do so.”

I have said the same thing, maybe not as eloquently as you just did.

Sooo, this then falls on the AG of Kentucky to make that determination. This should have been her argument in court instead of just flipping off the judge.

Unlike far too many, I saw through the thin veneer of Trumps campaign "conservativism"...his answers on life, religion, and second amendment issues are very indicative of his lack of character and real backbone. He doesn't have a core that is not absorbed by any cause other than himself.

If you don't stand for innocent life you cannot call yourself conservative. To accept his excuses for political bribes through campaign donations, his supporters cannot call themselves conservatives either.
