RUSH: Here is Shari in Valparaiso, Indiana, as we stick with the phones here on the Rush Limbaugh program. Hi, Shari. Great to have you here.
CALLER: Hi, Rush, glad to talk to you again.
RUSH: You bet.
CALLER: I have a question for you. First of all, do you remember how people have been calling you over the months and they've been all depressed about the country and upset with the direction we're going and saying that, you know, they think America is over and stuff like that? And you said to them that you didn't know what was gonna happen, but you're an optimist, and you didn't know what would happen, but you thought something would happen to pull us back from the brink. Well, my question is, do you think that Trump was what you were waiting for?
RUSH: Well, no. I'm answering your question specifically. I mean, I didn't know what the event would be. All I knew is that something was likely to happen that would reinvigorate people, or that would illustrate to them that all isn't lost, or that they're not in a minority in terms of the way they're thinking about the country. In other words, something would happen to make everybody realize we haven't lost the country yet, there's still a good chance here of saving it. Now, I didn't anticipate, I didn't know what it would be. I had no idea. If anything, I was thinking more along the lines that something would happen that would expose Obama as a giant, total fraud.

Nationalism and Socialism, what a wonderful combination!
Seig heil! Comrad.
People support Trump because he is a fighter. He doesnt apologize for having opinions that others (particularly in the media) dont agree with.
People support Trump because he wants America to be number one. He is a rejection of the Obama mentality that there is no, and should be no, American exceptionalism.
You just described my support for Trump. There are ideological class room theory conservationism and then there is real life in the trenches conservationism. Trump is a real world conservative and by real world I mean the business sector.
You know that classic line from Ghostbusters? Personally I like the university. They gave us money and facilities. We didnt have to produce anything. Youve never been out of college. You dont know what its like out there. Ive worked in the private sector. They expect results.
(s)How can you support Trump?! He does not walk on water! My candidate can not only walk on water, he can part the waters, AND turn water into wine!(/sarcasm off)
“Trump is a real world conservative...”
Well, I suppose that is true if you consider the theft of people’s property via eminent domain, the bribing of politicians to ensure your own wealth, the calling for a wealth tax, support for Obamacare and donating to gun grabber as “conservative.”
Trump is part of the problem that he has helped create. he is not a solution to an out of control federal government.
Ah, yes that’s good. I thought we were in agreement and we are.
What I want Trump to do is fire people. Thousands of people. Perhaps millions who are doing little but ride the gravy train.
In Congress, we have some good people like Ted Cruz, but it’s too soon and there aren’t enough of them to get them into leadership at this time. Though that could still change quickly if we can primary more of the rinos, which may be easier now that they are all exposed as rubber stampers for the communists.
There needs to be an America before there can be a CONSERVATIVE America.
A conservative no-mans-land is a contradiction in terms.
The people who don’t want to do anything about illegal immigrants and their anchor baby offspring have mostly had little if any personal exposure to them. Do you think that Hillary, Marco, or the Jebster go shopping near a bunch of subsidized low income apartments at a local Super Walmart where Caucasians make up about 25% of the customers?
Anyone who has, can answer the question, “Whose children are missing the toilet when they take a poop then leaving the mess behind for others to clean up with full knowledge of their parents?” There are little boys running helter skelter through the lady’s restroom. There are “cultures” who do not teach the basic principles of personal hygiene in public restrooms to their youth. But that is just one mildly annoying observation. These days there are plenty of slovenly native born people in this country as well. The question is how do you hold the line when our entire way of life is eroding away.
One early step is to at least attempt to restrict the flood of millions of uneducated poor people who come here with the expectation of getting government benefits. Once we get that under control maybe we will have a chance of working on some of the other problems. At the root of most of this slovenly behavior are government programs which enable people to not take responsibility for themselves and their progeny .
Oh, now I get it. We’re all natzies, is that right? Or just me?
“I must say I had to chuckle when I heard him go off against conservative writers as only willing to talk but not act. This criticism is equally applicable to conservative talk show hosts...”
Activism is as activism does. He can hardly venture outside of his palatial estate without being concerned for his own safety let alone his privacy as a citizen. How do you think it happened that way, by doing nothing?
Even if there is an American wish to assist these poor foreigners, it is certainly more cost effective to assist them while they are in Thirdworldlandia rather than in California.
Exactly. And it is disturbing how CSM sneers the word ... just like Jorge Ramos would. The Trump=Hitler/USA=Germany analogy FAILS completely in the year 2015.
I meant to ping the shark to this thread too ...
Eminent domain is in the constitution. And if I recall the case, Trump offered more than market and when she sold after years later she got half of what Trump offered.
It’s spelled “Kamerad”.
Gruss.
Best Rush piece in many a year. Trump is the Revenge of the Tea Party. He may not be a conservative but he is a committed capitalist and a patriot. he’s not Reagan—but he’s the best we have out their for shaking things up. In the end we must support him in his bid. Teamed with Cruz (a real Conservative) they just might push back the tide of Socialist ideals forced upon America.
“Exactly. And it is disturbing how CSM sneers the word ... just like Jorge Ramos would. The Trump=Hitler/USA=Germany analogy FAILS completely in the year 2015.”
Those who fail to remember history are doomed to repeat it. Trump IS spouting a Nationalist message, much like the Germans of the 1920’s and 30’s. They were screaming for “bringing jobs back” and “improving the economy.” In fact, they had become so embittered by the Treaty of Versailles that they just wanted a leader that would “get back at those that put them in such a bad place.”
A charismatic speaker was able to seize this on frustration and play to the populist message, eventually gaining full control of the country. What did he immediately do? He enforced the gun ban legislated under the Weimer Republic, he demonized business owners, he was able to nationalize health care and he got back at his country’s detractors. That lead to Tyranny.
What is Trump doing? He is speaking with a jingoistic message of nationalism, he is carrying a message of “getting back at the detractors.” All the while he has donated to Bloomberg’s gun grabber movement, supported national health care, is currently promising to “hit hedge fund managers hard,” and is certainly making comments that are showing a hint of “getting back at the country’s detractors.”
Yes, this is a very dangerous situation and the fact that “conservatives” are willing to take such a risk is astounding to me. I would much prefer to have a devout Constitutionalist elected as POTUS and therefore not have such risks, but it appears that others simply don’t care about history.
Quite frankly, I am no more interested in a Tyrant with an R after his name than I am in a Tyrant with a D after her name.
“Eminent domain is in the constitution.”
Only in the originalist sense. Not in the sense practiced by Trump. His support for and use of Kelo to line his own pockets is disgusting and should be a disqualifier for any Conservative support.
But alas, his hot air smells good to some, so its all good if he uses government guns to steal houses from folks.
“Oh, now I get it. Were all natzies, is that right? Or just me?”
Not necessarily all of, or any of his supporters. However, there is no denying that Trump is running on a Nationalistic message right now and that is appealing to some folks. However, those same folks, and yes that includes you, are forgetting his support for Socialist policies.
Yes, Trump is a National Socialist. Don’t let his Nationalist rhetoric fool you, he is still a Socialist. By extension he has no interest in the Constitution.
This could be a very dangerous proposition.
“He may not be a conservative but he is a committed capitalist”
Not true. Capitalism is not the use of Government guns to enrich oneself. Yes, we seem to have many Cronyists in our society today, however that does not make them Capitalists. A Cronyist is as close to Capitalism as the Marxists. Both are destructive to society.
Aren’t we sophisticated—from the self-congratulatory Georgetowntagline to calling Trump a socialist and his followers ‘Trumpkins’.
You come off as just the sort of DC grandee that the left and right are uniting against.
