Trump Now Out-polling Jeb 8-1 in Iowa (New Gravis Poll Trump-31.7% Carson-15.8% Bush-4.1%)

Donald Trump is maintaining a commanding 2-1 lead in the latest poll of GOP caucus goers in Iowa, and his only rival in double digits is another political novice, Dr. Ben Carson.

Former frontrunner FL Gov. Jeb Bush has tumbled into eighth place despite his $100-million bankroll.

In a Gravis Marketing poll of 507 Iowa Republicans conducted last Friday and Saturday, Trump has 31.7 percent to Carson’s 15.8 and Bush’s 4.1 percent. A Monmouth University poll released yesterday had showed Trump and Carson running neck and neck with 23 percent – much to the excitement of the GOP establishment, including Fox News Channel.

But today’s Gravis poll seems more in line with other recent surveys in the Hawkeye State, where the first caucuses of 2016 will be held five months from today on Feb. 1.

Trump is dominant across almost all demographic groups, leading Carson and Cruz among Hispanics with 29 percent. He also won a plurality among GOP voters who described themselves as both pro-life and pro-choice, those in the 18-49 age group, and Republicans declaring themselves moderate or “slightly liberal.”

Among Roman Catholics in Iowa, the Presbyterian Trump polls 40 percent to 11 percent for Carson. Bush, a Catholic convert who often claims to be guided by his faith, polled at 0.8 percent among his coreligionists.

Ted has trouble gaining traction anywhere in the polls which has been a constant issue for him.

Right now it looks like the preference is for non-pols. Not sure if that holds up into next spring or not.

On the 'pub side, the anger has been seething since the antics to keep Cochran in the US Senate after he lost. The DC crowd, in spite of our over-riding disgust, asked for conservative reinforcements and they promised to fight our fight. The first thing they did was re-appoint Boehner and McConnell to leadership rolls. They've done NOTHING to cut spending, keep Obama in line, figure out strategies to win (not just have a vote) about things we care about. Now their mission isn't to defeat hillary, it's to stop Trump and force-feed us the despicable Jeb. Connect all those dots. You're still not sure US citizens are going to stay fed up and want a non-politician who can clean up the DC sewer elected?

On the dem side, the closest they have to a non-politician in the running is Bernie Sanders. He's doing real well against the supposedly inevitable hillary.

So, look at the landscape, and get excited, real excited, about what a President Trump can accomplish!

I recall Rove fixed some Iowa vote back in 2012, too.

Jeb needs Carson...

I agree with you. That's why I keep asserting that the best place for Cruz for the next four years is in the US Senate, being mentored by Jeff Sessions and working to put together a coalition that can accomplish what they set out to do, in a Trump presidency.

I don't see why Cruz supporters can't be patient. It's hard to imagine Trump wanting more than four years, considering his age and that after four years his empire will probably need his guidance. In that time Cruz could develop that ability to bring people along, or not. We'll have to see how that goes. I could also see Jindal as a real good VP choice.

I read that Conservative Treehouse article either earlier today or yesterday. Read so many articles that I can't keep them straight.;-)

I wondered if Jeb wasn't perhaps funneling some ad money Carson's way.

“In any event, it’s a bad start to the season playing the first two contests in blueland. The first 10 primary/caucus should be in red states.”

That’s exactly why they’re held in blue states.

.

Trump has all the “anti-immigration conservatives” ...

Ben Carson has all of the Evangelical Christian “white guilt church lady” voters ...

As both Trump and Carson “fade” over the next SEVEN months (a political eternity) ... their supporters will gradually move to Ted cruz ...

That analysis “is not” a pollyanna shill for Ted Cruz, but rather the truth ...

Ben Carson will continue to “mumble and stumble” through the next three TV GOP presidential debates ...

Yeb Bush will score some “You’re really a Democrat” hits against Trump ...

GOP Primary voters will be confused by Yeb’s successful hits against Trump, and then migrate to Ted Cruz ...

Meanwhile, Trump’s “Counter-attacks” against Yeb will be devastating ... and Yeb will be decimated in Iowa, New Hapshire and Scouth Carolina ...

Sounds like football fans at the end of the regular season talking about how many other teams have to lose so their team can make the playoffs.

“Leaders, even in a minority, lead”

And, to finish your thought, they convince others to follow.
