Trump Now Out-polling Jeb 8-1 in Iowa (New Gravis Poll Trump-31.7% Carson-15.8% Bush-4.1%)

Donald Trump is maintaining a commanding 2-1 lead in the latest poll of GOP caucus goers in Iowa, and his only rival in double digits is another political novice, Dr. Ben Carson.

Former frontrunner FL Gov. Jeb Bush has tumbled into eighth place despite his $100-million bankroll.

In a Gravis Marketing poll of 507 Iowa Republicans conducted last Friday and Saturday, Trump has 31.7 percent to Carson’s 15.8 and Bush’s 4.1 percent. A Monmouth University poll released yesterday had showed Trump and Carson running neck and neck with 23 percent – much to the excitement of the GOP establishment, including Fox News Channel.

But today’s Gravis poll seems more in line with other recent surveys in the Hawkeye State, where the first caucuses of 2016 will be held five months from today on Feb. 1.

Trump is dominant across almost all demographic groups, leading Carson and Cruz among Hispanics with 29 percent. He also won a plurality among GOP voters who described themselves as both pro-life and pro-choice, those in the 18-49 age group, and Republicans declaring themselves moderate or “slightly liberal.”

Among Roman Catholics in Iowa, the Presbyterian Trump polls 40 percent to 11 percent for Carson. Bush, a Catholic convert who often claims to be guided by his faith, polled at 0.8 percent among his coreligionists.

Trump has all the “anti-immigration conservatives” ...

Ben Carson has all of the Evangelical Christian “white guilt church lady” voters ...

As both Trump and Carson “fade” over the next SEVEN months (a political eternity) ... their supporters will gradually move to Ted cruz ...

That analysis “is not” a pollyanna shill for Ted Cruz, but rather the truth ...

Ben Carson will continue to “mumble and stumble” through the next three TV GOP presidential debates ...

Yeb Bush will score some “You’re really a Democrat” hits against Trump ...

GOP Primary voters will be confused by Yeb’s successful hits against Trump, and then migrate to Ted Cruz ...

Meanwhile, Trump’s “Counter-attacks” against Yeb will be devastating ... and Yeb will be decimated in Iowa, New Hapshire and Scouth Carolina ...

I will explain but all the Cruzers hate it when I do. A leader leads. It's good, even necessary to stand up alone once in a while but sooner or later a leader has to get people to follow him. Cruz only had one follower in the shutdown (Lee). Why couldn't he get Sessions and some of the so-called conservatives like Toomey or Paul or Tim Scott to stand with him?

Export-Import, he voted right but didn't stop it. Why not get a coalition that could STOP it? You can't say "I sponsored legislation" because that sounds to voters like part of the problem. Leaders, even in a minority, lead.

I thought the GOPe bunch told us yesterday that Carson was tied with Trump? Didn’t last long, did it?

Fox told us that breathlessly. Coincidentally at about the same time stories started leaking out that the GOPe is going to try to take Trump out by promoting Carson as the alternative.

"I thought that neck and neck poll between Trump and Carson looked a little odd."

Second that.

Just curious why Ted Cruz isn’t doing better in Iowa?

Not sure myself. But my working theory is that he has just a little too much political experience to be considered an outsider, and not enough political experience to be considered an insider. So the elites go with the insider, the rebels go with the outside, and Cruz gets stuck in limbo.

Yeah, outlier with all the MOE working for Carson in that one.

So how do you explain the Mommouth poll that showed him tied with Carson?

Ted Cruz ... had he played his cared better .... should have had Alabama’s Jeff Sessions endorsing Ted Cruz, instead of Jeff Sessions essentially endorsing Donald Trump at the recent Trump Mobile Alabama Rally ...

I don't know. Like LS said, just chalk it up to MOE skewing. IIRC the MOE was just shy of 5%.

It might also be due to the fact that Carson has campaigned hard in certain areas and perhaps the pollsters mistaken hit those areas too hard also.

In the months ahead, when Congress again fails to follow the mandate of the Nov, 14 election and doesn't Stop Obama, then Trump's numbers will soar even more.

Donald Trump is the political equivalent dropping an (unexpected) nuclear weapon (hydrogen bomb) on the GOPe in 2016 ...

Ultimately, it’s a good thing, since (frankly) Ted Cruz (at this time) doesn’t command the same “street cred respect” as Donald Trump ...

Trump is accomplishing the mission, however ... that is ... politically destroy Yeb Bush’s fund-rasining home base ... months before the Iowa Caucus ...

and, rest assured, with Donald Trump in his targeting sights, Yeb Bush is politically doomed ...
