Dick Cheney Refuses to Endorse Donald Trump
Mediaite ^ | 09/01/2015 | Alex Griswold

In a preview of CNN’s interview of Dick Cheney set to air tonight, the former Vice President refused to comment on or endorse the candidacy of Donald Trump.

“I don’t know the man. I’ve never met him,” Cheney said when asked about Trump.

“Again, he’s a candidate, and I don’t want to be in the business of rating candidates at this point,” he continued. “I’ve been surprised that he’s done as well as he has. I think most of us have on the Republican side.”

“You’re not endorsing Donald Trump today?” asked CNN’s Jamie Gangel.

“That’s a given. I’m not endorsing Donald Trump today,” he said.

CNN distortion. Attempted divide and conquer tactic.

Very smart move as Cheney is reviled by Dems and would scare off the new Trump-Democrats!-)

I consider it my JOB ONE to help tank Jeb’s nomination way before he gets to the convention.

Hey, what’s wrong with him saying he’s not endorsing anyone yet? It’s still early people. I don’t even know who I’m supporting yet. I’m just sitting back enjoying the show!

Good for Trump. He doesn’t get the backing of Cheney who thought the USA should get into the business of nation building(democratizing) of Muslim countries.

Yes. And that didn’t appear to be Cheney’s point, but that is the story they are trying to create.

Dude. Really? What is your relevance? You are SO 2000-ish. Get with it, or get left in the dust.

"Dick Cheney Refuses to Endorse Donald Trump"

More subtly-misleading headline crap from some obscure blog site.

Cheney refused to endorse ANY Republican candidate, not just Trump.

Most pols in the public eye or high in the hierarchy of either major political party do not openly endorse in primaries. Most conservative talk show hosts don't, either.

This is standard operating procedure and has been from time immemorial.

The headline is very misleading. Cheney was saying he does not endorse ANY candidate at this point, and CNN made it into ‘Cheney is dissing Donald Trump.’ At least in the quotes of that article, he was doing no such thing.

Dick’s smart to just stay out of it. He’s a former VP and should stay neutral.

I agree. But the implication of the article to which he is the subject is for Trump. But he did qualify that by stipulating “at this point”.

Personally, as for the “Republican nominee that emerges”....I sure as heck won’t endorse Bush or near a dozen of the other potentials. I have two now. Cruz and possibly Trump if he wins the nomination. Any other and I stay home.

It’s still early people.

Way early. At this point in 2011, Rick Perry was leading the polls and his support was climbing.

In 2007, it was a steady and lasting lead by Giuliani.

They should have asked him about Jeb. Cheney was Bush 43’s VP for 8 years. He was Bush 41’s SecDef. Is there anyone who doesn’t believe he supports another Bush in the WH?

Newsmax on-line poll today shows:

Cruz 15%
Trump 14%
Carson 13%
Bush 5%

Santorium, Fiorina, Graham, King and Pataki are all at 0%. Everyone else is between 1% and 4%.
