Dick Cheney Refuses to Endorse Donald Trump
Mediaite ^ | 09/01/2015 | Alex Griswold

In a preview of CNN’s interview of Dick Cheney set to air tonight, the former Vice President refused to comment on or endorse the candidacy of Donald Trump.

“I don’t know the man. I’ve never met him,” Cheney said when asked about Trump.

“Again, he’s a candidate, and I don’t want to be in the business of rating candidates at this point,” he continued. “I’ve been surprised that he’s done as well as he has. I think most of us have on the Republican side.”

“You’re not endorsing Donald Trump today?” asked CNN’s Jamie Gangel.

“That’s a given. I’m not endorsing Donald Trump today,” he said.

I “refuse” to endorse Jeb Bush. Tit for tat.

Should have asked him if he would endorse Lindsey Graham today.

“Again, he’s a candidate, and I don’t want to be in the business of rating candidates at this point,”

Cheney is entitled to this position, imo.

Sounds like he is not endorsing anyone at this point. Why is that a news story?

If he’s endorsed John McCain and he endorsed Mitt Romney, I’d think The Donald should send him a fruit basket with a thank-you note!

Personally, I think it’s a tad early for anyone to endorse a candidate. It stands to reason that Cheney would probably endorse Jeb - GWB’s brother. But, who knows? Jeb might (hopefully) disappear down the rabbit hole.

The headline represents everything that's wrong with the media today.

Well Mr. Alex Griswold, you jackass, just who did Cheney endorse?

Given The Donald’s excoriation of Bush/Cheney foreign policy, I would doubt the Cheneys would endorse him.

Saw Dick C. on Hannity last night with Liz. She said & he affirmed that they are not endorsing ANY candidates now .... was not Trump specific. Of course, CNN makes it about Trump with their pointed questions & headlines.

Of course he doesn’t endorse Trump. He’s the definition of Establishment Republican.

He is also a member of PNAC, Project for a New American Century (1990s), with Donald Rumsfeld. PNAC called for a new Pearl Harbor to force the US to engage with the middle east and force changes to America. This was a couple years before 9/11.

Jeb Bush was a founding member of PNAC.

Dick Cheney Refuses to Endorse Donald Trump any primary candidate

“Again, he’s a candidate, and I don’t want to be in the business of rating candidates at this point”

I “refuse” to endorse Jeb Bush. Tit for tat.
It would be a principled position for Cheney to wait until the primaries are over, and just endorse the Republican nominee who emerges.

IMHO the only thing to get excited about in this article is that the headline is misleading.

Between Tokyo Rove and Dick Cheney you have a lock on political advisory losers.

Headline is misleading, as always.

Cheney abstained from endorsing anyone today.

If Trump ends up as the nominee, then a refusal to endorse would be meaningful.
