Donald Trump’s immigration comments don’t seem to be hurting Republicans — yet
Washington Post ^ | 8/23/15 | Philip Bump

Donald Trump — businessman, raconteur, fiery immigration hardliner — has repeatedly insisted that he will win the Hispanic vote once granted the Republican nomination next year. His argument is usually two-fold: one, he'll bring jobs and, two, a poll showed him leading among Hispanics in Nevada. The Nevada poll has a Trump-Tower-sized margin of error. And the idea that Hispanic voters will flock to the candidate who would have us assume that immigrants from Mexico are more likely criminals than not seems iffy.

But the worst fears of the Republican establishment, that Trump's unapologetic condemnations of immigrants will scuttle their shot at retaking the White House, so far aren't revealing themselves in polling.

-snip-

What's more, in the most recent CNN/ORC polling Trump does better against Clinton with non-white voters than Jeb Bush.

...immigrants from Mexico are more likely criminals than not...

I don't think he said that; in fact, I know he didn't.

The truth is only inconvenient or a danger to Liberals. Trump is expressing the truth to the American people. What a refreshing change from the lies out of corrupt, amoral politicians’ mouths at every level of government especially in DC. Talking heads, strategists, lobbyists, and the MSM take issue with the truth as the truth doesn’t further their self-serving purposes, ya think?

Good points. The media takes an issue then molds the narrative to their expectations instead of the reality.

Trump is confounding this process because he is not playing by the established rules.

Trump’s unapologetic condemnations of immigrants

They have to lie.

The truth is we are not talking about immigrants. Those people followed the law.
We are talking about illegal aliens. People who just broke into the country and break laws daily to remain illegaly in our country.
All citizens, whatever their color, want the colonization of our country stopped.
Foreigners should not decide our immigration policies.

VP Ben Carson might make a good offering to the Blacks

Do blacks love Clarence Thomas? Did Condi Rice gain support for George Bush from blacks? Did blacks turn out overwhelmingly to vote for Allen West?

If you are black and conservative, the majority of blacks will consider you a race traitor.

For weeks now I've been seeing Trump 2016 signs.
Some were in front of homes that had Obama signs there last time.

The other signs and bumper stickers I've been seeing have been for Bernie.
If I were Hillary, I'd be very concerned.

They really don't understand the fact of human nature that people do not want their home, village, town, city, State, or country overrun by others who are significantly dissimilar to themselves. The politicians who push the invasion for political purposes, and businesses who do so for short term profit gains, have gotten away with it through a combination of stealth and suppression of anyone voicing the obvious by labeling them as Fascists, or ignoring them altogether.

At least with the latter they can't do that with Donald Trump. He is and has for many years been guaranteed front page news fodder. He has been welcomed into millions of American homes as a superlative master (the one who instructs an "apprentice") of business and so the usual tactic of creating a false image of someone through a coordinated media drumbeat (Palin-Ignorant, Romney-Mean, Cruz-Crazy) won't work. In fact, when they try the cognitive dissonance just makes him stronger and themselves weaker. He states in plain American English what the vast majority of Americans have for years been thinking but have not until now had an opportunity to vote for. Reagan tapped the same wellspring of suppressed and ignored common belief in 1980, to the same gob smacked expressions you see today on NBCBSABCMSNBCFOX.

Trump isn't my candidate of choice. I'm conservative in an older sense that includes wanting a president who knows the law inside and out so he can know how to correctly dismantle and fix the machine of government. But it is entertaining to watch those who consider themselves master manipulators of our opinions and votes burst into flames bashing their pointy little heads against the walls of Castle Trump.

Why is it that the Uniparty’s position that killing Americans by the thousands under the guise of letting illegal immigrants run loose through America is expected to be popular. The ruling party actually thinks that Americans are OK with letting thousands of Americans be killed by illegal immigrant criminals so that we do not offend illegal immigrants. This is madness and they then expect that Trump’s immigration policies are going to become unpopular.

I wonder how many illegal immigrants have been brutalized by the criminals in their ranks who agree with Trump. I bet a lot.

Love the lie built into the premise, that Trump’s comments were directed at “immigrants” the weren’t. They were directed at ILLEGALImmigrants, IO
W, people who break the law, criminals.

The WaPo of course lies by conflation two things a
That are totally different, non criminals and criminals.

American Citizens of Latin American or Spanish origin were either born here, or became naturalized after immigrating legally, signing the guest book, taking the test and the oath of loyalty, and are the only “Hispanics” who should be VOTING anyway.

I suspect that, after all that effort, they would agree with Trump that those who enter ILLEGALLY should not be rewarded for their law-breaking behavior.

But, what do I know? I’m just a bass-player! :-)
