Donald Trump’s immigration comments don’t seem to be hurting Republicans — yet
Washington Post ^ | 8/23/15 | Philip Bump

Posted on 08/23/2015 7:25:59 AM PDT by jimbo123

Donald Trump — businessman, raconteur, fiery immigration hardliner — has repeatedly insisted that he will win the Hispanic vote once granted the Republican nomination next year. His argument is usually two-fold: one, he'll bring jobs and, two, a poll showed him leading among Hispanics in Nevada. The Nevada poll has a Trump-Tower-sized margin of error. And the idea that Hispanic voters will flock to the candidate who would have us assume that immigrants from Mexico are more likely criminals than not seems iffy.

But the worst fears of the Republican establishment, that Trump's unapologetic condemnations of immigrants will scuttle their shot at retaking the White House, so far aren't revealing themselves in polling.

-snip-

What's more, in the most recent CNN/ORC polling Trump does better against Clinton with non-white voters than Jeb Bush.

“Donald Trump’s immigration comments don’t seem to be hurting Republicans — yet”

Are they supposed to? Maybe outside of the made up stuff, maybe they can quote him exactly and tell us exactly what is wrong with them?

Trump not bowing to the PC thought police is his most enduring quality.

A guy with a mic does not get to redefine our country’s language and culture. It’s gone on far too long.

Maybe it’s because Americans have decided to put their country and other Americas ahead of a bunch of thieving, freeloading illegal aliens.

ALABAMA RALLY MOMENTO

The ecstatic look on the mom's face. Donald caressing her baby. The baby's hand on Donald.

Gravis needs to go away. Every cycle in the bottom 2 of pollsters. It always causes something akin to a false sense of security.

When you’ve got 84% of Hispanics saying they will NOT vote for you ... you’ve got a problem. Furthermore, following the link, these are Republican Hispanics and not Hispanics overall.

The majority of Americans agree with Trump. The GOPe is owned by their corporate paymasters. They would rather serve their interests rather than the interests of American citizens and workers.

“...maybe they can quote him exactly and tell us exactly what is wrong with them?”

Not how the game is played - “specifics” are kryptonite to the MSM.

1) Take quote out of context
2) Ignore quote and refer to as “comments”
3) Add adjective as to feign offense such as “terrible comments”
4) Gather a panel to discuss just how aweful the “terrible comments” are.
5) Repeat #4 24/7 until the next quote is made
6) Go back to #1

At no time present facts or real statistics, just get “experts” to lie about it.

Non-white voters don't matter.

A Republican will win by getting the white vote to show up at the polls in large numbers, not by increasing his share of black voters to 6% from the usual Republican 5%.

......................................................

More of the MSM crap....I feel the more people talk bad about Trump, the more people like him and the higher in the polls he goes, I don’t really follow the polls, but it makes the MSM and talking heads feel like their doing something, what I don’t know, but something....

I am loving the part of the Trump campaign (yes I am a huge supporter) that just drives the MSM and talking heads into shock because Trump isn’t listening to them, he’s polite, to a point, when he has to talk to them, but they know their jobs if he gets POTUS is not going to be carrying his water....they are going to be the little tiny crumbs you see littered under a dinner table at your favorite diner....

Go Trump/Cruz 2016!!!

Premise is a bald faced lie. And, of course, the writer left out the word: illegal. Trump has not "condemned" all immigrants, legal or illegal.

But they keep trying.

That’s really funny. I can almost hear the GOPe consultants’ heads exploding from OH.

clearly this is a problem that requires attention. We can’t be held hostage over the issue of illegal immigration so we will need to win without hispanics. That means we will have to deal with black and white Democrats. We will have to make them an offer they can not refuse. Trumps protectionist trade policies seem like a pretty good offer to white Democrats so we need to talk more about that and less about Mexico. VP Ben Carson might make a good offering to the Blacks.

Yes! Haven’t you heard the press telling everyone it will destroy the republican party?

That’s really funny. I first thought “It’s BS. The press crying for the republican party.” Then it came to be that if the republican party was conservative they really would be concerned Trump would destroy it. They love the republican party because they give the liberals everything they want. And they don’t want it destroyed.

Washington politicians and the beltway crowd, regardless of party, have not been in sync with the public on the immigration issue.

Of course the liberal writer left out the word “illegal”. Didn’t even try to use the word “undocumented” as a substitute.

I’ve been an establishment Republican since I first voted. These days I say “to hell with the GOP establishment.” They are nothing more than moles in the party and tools of the RATS.

Two people I know who are immigrants from the Philippines 40+ years ago have said “well I’m an immigrant...” So obviously the RAT and LSM brainwashing is working in people. The very minimal thinking that is involved to see the difference between a legal immigrant and an illegal immigrant doesn’t occur....
