Trump responded, “You mean it’s not politically correct, and yet everybody uses it?” He then suggested the reporter give him a different term to use, to which the reporter suggested “The American-born [children] of undocumented immigrants.” Trump said in response, “I’ll use the word ‘anchor baby.'”

Can you imagine every other candidate cowering in fear on how to react to that “anchor baby” question? (except Cruz)

That is B.T. (Before Trump) ...

I think now he has emboldened ALL of them (a little)

I agree - when all this is said and done - and whether we have President Trump or President Sanders as a result of third party Trump run - or whether we nominate Cruz and he wins with Trump’s strong endorsement - whatever the case will be - BT is the new political calendar staple.

I don’t think the game will ever be the same. I think Newt laid the ground work a bit four years ago - and DT has taken it to turbo level this go round. The media is in panic, the establishment is in panic - and all candidates on the Republican side (except wuss Jeb and Kasich) are shedding their timid shackles.

I have major problems with Trump as nominee and/or President - but I have no doubt whatsoever that he’s done the country a tremendous favor and service - regardless of what transpires from here.

He has the timing of a stand-up comedian. That’s a great part of his appeal.

But even Cruz would not project the “jump in the ring” command and control energy that comes naturally to Trump. No body walks over Trump. He grabs onto this crap, doesn’t let it slide by him, and immediately hurls it right back in the face of the slime balls.

Anchor baby may seem to the timid as harsh - and maybe it is a little - but there’s a reason the phrase exists....a truth that liberals have tried not to confront - it’s what we’ve known for years - that there have been millions of babies conceived with the express purpose of anchoring entire families north of the border.

Meanwhile, those same liberals are trying to call the murder of little babies for organ harvesting as simply maximizing fetal material blah blah blah.

This is all true above ^^^ though I don't think anyone "walks over" Cruz either - but there's no doubt DT brings a unique energy and fearlessness. Having said that - is that alone enough to support him for President as first choice? There's too many times he's used this same energy to jump on liberal band wagons...and not all long ago either - for me.

Hispanics know what an anchor baby is. Why doesn’t the reporter?
Shall we call it “constitutional loophole” baby or “immigration pass” or “amnesty” baby?

This is a favorite response regarding Trump not being “Presidential.” However, if he has down the country a ‘favor,’ why would he not do the same as President? What are you afraid of? Personally, I think Trump represents the proud, take charge American image I want to see in my President.

There is nothing harsh about the word “anchor”. There is nothing harsh about the word “baby”.

It is the perfect description.

Your post has indicated some false choices and false equivalencies...so to what am I afraid of? I wouldn't say afraid, but I am intellectually aware that Trump is still reflexively a liberal. In other words, he's evolved on some issues - fine and dandy - but when something new hits - and it always does to candidates and Presidents - his reflexes are liberal.

Just recently: Scott Walker came up, and Donald Trumpka hit him from the left like a union thug. There is room to the right of Scott Walker, but DT came from THE LEFT. When the economic crash came up, Donald Dodd Frank TARP Trump exonerated ALL DEMOCRATS period from any blame. There is room to the right of Bush on this issue, but Trump came FROM THE LEFT. And when the issue of Planned Parenthood came up, Donald "Clinton Foundation" Trump used the "they do a lot of good work" bullshit to say we should still fund them. There is no excuse for this period.

My friend, these are long time beliefs that he has reinforced recently. You may be riding a horse to whip the RINOs- and discover yourself somewhere LEFT of RINOs when it's all said and done.

we’re afraid of the fact that his number one goal mission is to do whatever is best for Donald Trump...AND...we’re afraid of the fact that he’s held primarily liberal positions, right up until he decided that it would be awesome to be President.

We love what he’s saying but don’t trust him as far as we can spit.

Yep that pretty much sums it up.

I see a few more of us here, stumping for Trump, but all in all, we have a forum that in large part, is looking for that perfect candidate. He or she doesn’t exist.

Trump, is the man of the moment. I’ve heard him speak now enough time to realize that he resonates with a cross section of this country, that includes, liberals, conservatives, tea party, dems, repub, liberts...and all ethnic persuasions who are in this country legally.

The people that disdain him, like my brother, do not want to listen to the man, or read his words in print or anything. They have their head in the sand...thinking that one of the other candidates will rise up out of the pack, like Ted Cruz.

Trump, for now is the man of our times.

“Anchor baby” is a perfectly descriptive term and in the greatest tradition of the American Language. H. L. Mencken would approve.
