Donald Trump says the last time America was great was “during the administration of Ronald Reagan.”

Donald Trump was on NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday and told Chuck Todd that it was during the Reagan Administration, “you felt really proud. I don’t think since then to any great extent, people were proud.”

You think you have a gotcha of substance when all you have is a tiny quibble.

...You get it by electing conservatives...

I did that, three of them just recently, Governor Sandaval, Senator Heller and Congressman Amodei. Look where that got me.

Yeah, I think it’s actually quite possible that Trump could turn out to be the best thing that’s happened to the GOP or the country in a while. He does reach across parties. It’s not just his celebrity and style, but there’s a genuineness in how he gives voice to so much that people have been thinking, but haven’t really had permission to say or hope to see addressed.

Remember when people were so upset with Sarah Palin for showing him the respect of meeting with him?

If it takes a “Democrat” (registered Republican... they said the same about Ronald Reagan by the way) to shame “true conservatives” into doing what is needed...

Then that is what it takes.

Have joy in your quibbles. The rest of us will look to matters of substance.

Why not?

You keep claiming Trump is a democratic and that’s objectively wrong.

You obviously can’t tell the difference between your opinion and objective reality.

"Why not?"

Yep. Total lunacy. We reject RINOs, but Dems will get the job done.

"You keep claiming Trump is a democratic and that’s objectively wrong."

No, it's what he said three weeks ago when he went on "Morning Joe" and admitted that many of his positions are those of a Democrat. You take his every other word as gospel, so I guess you have to believe that, too.

"You obviously can’t tell the difference between your opinion and objective reality."

Dude, your head is wrapped up so tight in this Trump cult of personality you've turned reality off. See above.

Yeah, you'll throw your fervent support behind a Democrat and expect something other than disaster.

LOL, good luck with that.

I don’t know where you are.

Hey! Maybe a Democrat will be a better option! /S

Yeah, you’ll throw your fervent support behind distortions and lies and expect something other than disaster.

Teach yourself, teacher.

Lol, good luck with that.

No, it's what he said three weeks ago when he went on "Morning Joe" and admitted that many of his positions are those of a Democrat.

But the fact remains he IS a Republican.

Dude, your head is wrapped up so tight in this Trump cult of personality you've turned reality off. See above.

Don't analyze me. You're not smart enough.

Especially if you can't cite my published positions here on FR.

I believe the interview with Todd was huge. Some people that didn’t see him as a credible candidate will be changing their minds. I am one of them.

I am not saying I am supporting Trump right now but I am much more open to it after viewing the entire interview. I favor Cruz but I don’t believe he’s going to win. There are a few others I could support but I don’t see them winning either.

I will be supporting Trump 1000x over any GOPe type candidate. If a GOPe candidate is the nominee, I will be voting 3rd party or not at all for president.

The way things are looking right now, I may soon be on the Trump train.

I swung over his way after watching several of his full speeches and press conferences. He’s much better and more thoughtful than people imagine, I think, without really watching him.

Also, the latest knock, that he’s not offering specifics, is clearly gonna get addressed—leaving them to have to come up with something else to accuse him of.

I posit that the right thing to do is “support God in the Trump situation.”

Trump is getting some things spectacularly right, or at least better than most political contenders.

Other things, not so much presently. It’s like he does not grasp the impact of those positions. But there is a lot of time to go in the political season.

It is people, not God, who put other people into little boxes.

"But the fact remains he IS a Republican."

What do labels matter when he said his positions are those of a Democrat?

Besides, hasn't this site always attached very little value to "Republicans" and espoused conservatism instead?

Notice how you have to start wiggling leftward in order to support someone like Trump.

"Don't analyze me. You're not smart enough."

There would have to be some depth to you to warrant analysis.

As it is, all the Trump hero worship and denial of reality is right on the surface.

It galls you that Trump is showing a spectacular manner in a couple of areas that we wish “conservatives” could be.

And galls you even more that those are areas that impact America’s immediate survival.

What some people see is, looking PAST Trump, the hand of God.

The bitter want to style it as hero worship, knowing in their conflicted heads that it is not so.

Rush himself knows Obama has been very successful carrying out his agenda.

Everything you cited was post election. Obama is a liar, I get that, but his agenda was front and center for all to see.

He is following that script.

Trumps agenda is front and center for all to see.

What do labels matter when he said his positions are those of a Democrat?

I learned long ago the key to people like you is pin them down on definitions.

You conveniently ignore ANYTHING that doesn't support your thesis, and magnify anything, however inapplicable, that does.

example: trump has "positions" that of a Democrat (regardless of the good political wisdom of saying such a thing) means he's a Democrat! But Trump running as a Republican means nothing. See how it's played?

Calling you out on definitions forces you to untangle your own sophistry.

Also, ask Trump how he views welfare. For starters he wants bums off of it. That is not what a Democrat asks for. In fact this is the sacred sugar trap, the “proof of love,” that has blacks voting 90% Democrat... but it could take a Trump to appeal to the (yes, God-given, even if Trump does not use those words) dignity of the black man, that he can earn himself way more than the Democrats could dole out to him, and in freedom yet.
