(PPP) Trump Leads Republicans in Missouri
Public Policy Polling ^ | 8/12 | LS

Posted on 08/12/2015 5:24:57 AM PDT by LS

PPP's new Missouri poll provides more evidence that Donald Trump emerged from the first debate at least momentarily unscathed. He leads the Republican field in the state with 23% to 11% each for Jeb Bush and Ben Carson, 10% for Mike Huckabee, 9% for Ted Cruz, 8% for Scott Walker, 7% for Carly Fiorina, 6% for Marco Rubio, and 4% each for John Kasich and Rand Paul. That makes for a very clean top ten in Missouri because everyone else is at 1% or less- Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum all get 1%, George Pataki is at less than 1%, and Jim Gilmore and Lindsey Graham have literally no supporters.

What really stands out in the numbers is how broad Trump's support is- he leads with moderates (25%), 'somewhat liberal' voters (23%), and 'very conservative' voters (20%) alike. He is a lot stronger with men (30%) but he leads with women too at 16%. He's particularly strong with young voters (32%) but also leads with middle aged voters (21%) and seniors (17%). Every group we track he has the lead with on this poll.

Yes, I know party insiders support him. But can party insiders bring up to 10%?

BTW, did you notice this (maybe in another thread)---and this is the first time I've seen these numbers.

Rush keeps saying Bush is expected to win because he has the money. Well, Trump said that Bush has raised $114m. (By my calculations---let me know if I'm wrong---Cruz has raised about $65m, or a little better than Hillary at $60m!). But Trump has an annual income of $400m. So he could beat Bush, Cruz, and Hillary put together and have $100m a year left over.

There is a very great deal “there.”

No, I'm sorry but there is not. His tax plan, his wall plan, his ISIS plan, his Terrificcare plan, every other plan he has floated are meant for a 15 second sound bite and not a real solution. Trump is an empty suit with a large mouth. And unfortunately most of his fellow candidate aren't a whole lot better.

When Trump begins to buy very much TV airtime, that’s a signal he’s beginning to bottom-out.

My hope is that he never spends his money on worthless TV ads and does not begin robo-calling.

Part is his eespext of people. Two stories
Last night before the sold out private event in Michigan he answered questions from press. He joked with them (spoke directly to Major apologizing for how O treated him) answered their questions sent them on their way early. They did not have to hang around and wait for a ceumb- - full accessibility

Recently in NH he rented a church parking lot and transport vans [parking was poor and at a distance) for his “guest” He also provided a tent for shade and water for the press

People respond not only to his message but to the respect he gives them.

Tax plan is pretty good, far better than the “FAIR” tax, and the only one with a chance of working. ISIS (bomb the oil fields) exactly what the Brits did to the French Navy in WW II. Solid concept. His book is pretty full of solid stuff. You just don’t want to admit it.

I fully agree. That's why he is the master of social media. Here he is, the richest guy in the race on either side, and he has managed to get more free media than all the other candidates on BOTH sides combined! Brilliant.

And even if he did plan to spend, if I was his adviser, I'd tell him to wait until the very last moment, hopefully after he has the nomination.

I say it a little differently. People have a herd mentality.

Notice also how after he has made peace, he graciously acts like its no big deal and all is well. (Think Roger Ailes.) Trump is very smart by trying to bring adversaries into the fold. I won’t hold my breath on Rosie O’Donnel though. lol

Cruz just needs to stay on message, continue to build support, continue to leave Trump alone, build name recognition and wait for Trump to fade. If Trump does not fade then play it smart for VP.

At a later point in time, a few tv ads will be necessary. Its no big deal. But I do agree with you that if tv ads became his primary focus, then Donald is done.

FWIW, when they do surveys, if the question is "Are you a registered Republican" instead of likely to vote Republican, you'd get it skewed toward those who support the current backstabbers. 10% is actually a very small number, especially considering that the plan was for Jeb to be the unstoppable candidate because of all of the big-donor cash.

Think about it this way: Wouldn't a lot of Republican US Senators and HOR members support Jeb Bush? And don't they all have donors who bought and paid for them? That's got to be at least 10% of registered Republicans, I'd think.

11% each for Jeb Bush and Ben Carson

Who are these MORONS saying yes Jeb?

I can see any other candidate, Rand, Huck, Carly... any of them.

But Jeb???

Seriously, other than the Fox News morons and the back-room GOPe boys (friends of Rove and GHWB)... who seriously would rate this guy higher than an earth-worm? I just don't get it.

All those years 13-18 in military school (private - captain) imo gives him a background that none of the other, even those that served, can match

I heard Meeka on msnbc say Trump is the only candidate that has given all networks his phone number and said call me anytime, I will answer whatever you ask. She said all others have to have pre- arranged questions, go through dnc or rnc or person in charge of campaign and has to be scripted. They just phone Trump and ha answers, does interview. That is why he gets so much media time.

Add Carly to the list of Rove and Bush. She has a history with those two
