PPP's new Missouri poll provides more evidence that Donald Trump emerged from the first debate at least momentarily unscathed. He leads the Republican field in the state with 23% to 11% each for Jeb Bush and Ben Carson, 10% for Mike Huckabee, 9% for Ted Cruz, 8% for Scott Walker, 7% for Carly Fiorina, 6% for Marco Rubio, and 4% each for John Kasich and Rand Paul. That makes for a very clean top ten in Missouri because everyone else is at 1% or less- Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal, Rick Perry, and Rick Santorum all get 1%, George Pataki is at less than 1%, and Jim Gilmore and Lindsey Graham have literally no supporters.
What really stands out in the numbers is how broad Trump's support is- he leads with moderates (25%), 'somewhat liberal' voters (23%), and 'very conservative' voters (20%) alike. He is a lot stronger with men (30%) but he leads with women too at 16%. He's particularly strong with young voters (32%) but also leads with middle aged voters (21%) and seniors (17%). Every group we track he has the lead with on this poll.

How exactly is he doing it?
Who is this 10% for Bush? I’ve never met them. Nobody else has either. Its more likely Trump 30% and Bush 3%. I’m being generous here.
So Cruz is beating Walker in a Midwestern state? Hmmmmm...

the parameters are not precisely defined, but here’s a clue

How much of that support is because, right or wrong, they consider Trump the easiest Republican to beat?
Way early, but I think he's so far ahead in this game that Cruz and Walker and Rubio really don't have a chance. And I think Bush is dead man walking.
Honestly if you polled Wisconsin I wonder what you would get?
Sssshhhh, somebody will hear you.
It represents just how small the numbers of disgusting Republican backstabbers who control the show are.
Those other candidates saying negative things about Trump? I would assume they're with the elite, because those with us would be working hard on a first priority of getting Jeb OUT of the race!
He even is beating Romney's and McCain's numbers with blacks in one poll that I saw. Don't kid yourself. He is viewed as the only one not only pushing back, but capable of operating outside the system enough to actually achieve something pushing back.
If this were 1996, Ted Cruz would have been the greatest candidate on earth. You could still move Congress in the direction of a president with normal tactics. No more. We are totally in a media age and ZEro has destroyed traditional democratic institutions to the point that they are stalemated, and I don't think even a Pres. Cruz would be able to move the entrenched interests off the dime. I think an outside the box guy is needed.
Sooner or later people are going to realize that there is no ‘there’ there. Hopefully before the convention.
Regardless when this was released, I surmise this is pre-debate polling info-based. No proof; just a hunch because of lack of movement by certain other candidates.
PPP must have sat on this survey for a week or at least a few days.
I have, being a county committee man I rub elbows with party insiders.
He’s genuinely tapping into the hatred of American creep, bully, and harridan culture. It’s Trump’s ability to look at the creeps and go “don’t bullsh!t me you creep. It goes a long way. Now, if he were only a Constitutionalist.
You know, at that level, I don’t think Republicans are intent on being backstabbers. I think many are still just confused by media propaganda. I think many of them will eventually come around.
But who are these Bush supporters that support him at the grass roots level? I don’t think they exist. I think the media is skewing the numbers. And if they do exist, its certainly not at 10%.
Is there anybody out there supporting Bush? Speak up! I want to know you exist!
No, it’s not because in the paragraph they say that confirmed their post-debate IA poll.
There is a very great deal “there.” More so than in most candidates. It’s not in traditional “politispeak.” But it’s definitely there.
I sit corrected and have dropped my hunch in file 13.
