(Monmouth) Poll: Obama wouldn't win third term (Actually, he would get crushed in a landslide!)

In a Monmouth University poll released Monday morning, President Obama’s claim that he could win a third White House term if he were to run in 2016 is put to the test — and fails.

[Snip]

According to the Monmouth poll, Obama should be glad he can’t run again.

Sixty-eight percent of respondents said they would vote for someone else, while only 26 percent said they would be willing to give the president four more years.

It’s that 26% that scares me.

A country stupid enough to elect him twice is stupid enough to elect him again.

If that bottom dwelling POS does not die in prison, it will be proof that our just-us system is a complete and utter failure.

We all await the chance to drive by the federal prison where he (it) is ensconced so that we can give him the universal Dorkbama the Muslim salute....both hands, middle finger up

FUBO.

That group actually believes he can, and will seek reelection.

This assumes the people that are polled are the people that are voting. They may well be, but... The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.

I believe he can seek re-election if he wants to. Who’s going to stop him? Boehner? McConnell? The SC Court?

I’m not sure about that. After a billion $ in negative ads portraying the Republican candidate as an arch-villain who kills puppies, Mother Teresa would lose in a landslide.

Who says Obama would need to run a campaign? He has a stacked court, a squished GOP leadership that gives him EVERYTHING he wants, and could easily sweep aside the 22nd amendment. And the public vote doesn’t matter one bit. If he unleashes his goons on the electoral college he wins every vote. Who would stop Obama? The military?

We once had a great Republic.

26% is enough to win

He would win the primary easily if he won.

Then the GOPE would throw the election AGAIN.

After a billion $ in negative ads portraying the Republican candidate as an arch-villain who kills puppies, Mother Teresa would lose in a landslide.

We also had that built-in incumbent advantage of Obama in 2012 that let him use general election funds for the entire summer while Romney had to wait until after the September GOP Convention to spend his funds. [Election Law]

The subtle effects of Obama being able to make advantageous advertising buys by being there first for a limited resource did have an effect. This has had the present-day effect of moving the conventions from September to mid summer in 2016!

I think he was this bad in the polls at this point in the last cycle.

The states just might be desperate enough by then to do it. It would obviously be unconstitutional for the majority of Electors to vote for a third term for a president, so what is the legal argument for putting any Electors pledged to him on the ballot in your state?
Red states would rebel, purple states might rebel, and even blue states would have to think about it.
After all, would not a vote for an unqualified person not be a nonvote? Would not the number of votes required for a majority decline by one for every two votes cast for an unqualified person? Faced with that question, even the bluest states (well, maybe not DC) might reject the idea out of hand.
A third term would be a coup - which would have to be executed against the states, even before they established the ballots for the election. No fig leaf would be available.

I don’t put anything past those in DC...from both parties. The congress could “deem” the laws changed. Especially if something big happens and martial law is declared.
