Poll: GOP top tier breaking away, led by Trump [Walker 2nd]

WASHINGTON (CNN) — A new poll from Quinnipiac University finds Donald Trump with a significant lead over his closest rivals for the Republican nomination for president, and provides further evidence the field of 16 candidates vying for the GOP nomination has a clear top tier.

Trump tops the field at 20% in the poll, Quinnipiac's first since the businessman announced his run for the presidency in June. He is followed not by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, but by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 13%. Bush follows Walker at 10%. This trio comprises the only Republican candidates in double-digits in each of the last four publicly released national polls.

Behind them, Quinnipiac finds a group of four tied at 6%: retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich are just a shade behind at 5%.

But Trump's success with some comes with resounding negatives from others. He tops the list of candidates Republican voters say they definitely could not support: 30% say they would not back him, up from 21% saying so in Quinnipiac's late-May survey. That figure is even higher among Republican women, 37% of whom say they would never vote for Trump.

And in general election match-ups, Trump lags far behind three potential Democratic opponents:......

FoxNews showed a graphic of the poll.

They cut the list at 6% and up. That way, they didn’t have to show Cruz and Kasich at 5%.

Poll: GOP top tier breaking away, led by Trump [Walker 2nd]

I've been wondering WHO is telling many of the "also-rans" (Linda Graham, Kasich, et.al.) they should run for President? Is it part of an RNC plot?

I doubt Graham and Santorum stay in. They are useless to the RNC if they aren’t debating and nipping at the conservatives’ heals. The most disturbing part of this poll is Kasich at 5%. You know he’ll be working for Jeb if he gets in the debates.

Meanwhile in Oregon....

“Our insiders picked Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and John Kasich as the top 5 most likely to win the GOP primary nomination, in that order. They were asked to rank who they thought was most likely to win, not who they wanted to win. Here are their average rankings:.....”

I guess your Not astroturfing for Ricky La Raza Perry this election cycle?
But Walker is more of the same ,just another OWNED KStreet Puppet who dances to the Amnesty Lobbyists and chamber of Crony Capitalism .

Walker put Prebius in charge of RNC which is now an openly anti conservative anti Tea Party K Street Front group.
Walker hires DC insiders like George Wills Wife , Liz Pro Amnesty / pro abortion Mair ,and a
Romney RNC smear operative named O’ Driscoll who was involved in the MS RNC hit on McDaniels.

Walker is MORE OF THE SAME !

Another RNC KStreet Puppet owned by Billionaires.

You forgot TPA. That was another “win” for Walker. Why did you leave it out?

Donald’s hot, no doubt. Walker’s campaign has legs, no doubt.

But does anyone really believe Cruz and Kasich are tied? What a bunch of bullsh-t that is.

Well, I for one said that Kasich would surge ahead of Cruz after announcing. It’s not like he had that far to go.

I heard this morning that former VA Governor Jim Gilmore is planning to announce. That’s just plain crazy! Gilmore was a good Gov and I wish he could have run for re-election but he’s got next to NO name recognition nationally and nobody, but nobody is getting any oxygen besides Donald. Talk about a waste of time!

Well I don't believe he's there....pollsters do not want Cruz in the debates, and they would love another mini Jeb pro Obama Care Republican in.

But consider this looking forward: Cruz has far more donors (numerously) and far more support on talk radio and far more support on the internet. In other words, among the well informed - Cruz is 25 fold of Kasich I bet, if not more. These are leading indicators. Watch these indicators play out as more people become better informed.

Trump has taken the oxygen for the conservatives by pretending to be one. He says everything they want to hear and gets away with lying through his teeth about his competition. I don't think he believes a word of it. With the way the primaries are front loaded and in parallel, it's getting scary because nobody else has any mo against Jeb. That's why the GOPe is so quiet.

A fan dance like this has become de-rigueur for decades now and we just don't seem to get it. Ross Perot (twice). Fred Thompson. Bush didn't need one because he got away with appearing to be a conservative on the basis of his pro-life positions (that didn't amount to a hill of beans). Now we have Trump. What a farce.

The GOPe has been recruiting losers such as Kasich, Linda Graham, et al to try and distract and dilute the election to get their sacrifice to the Uniparty’s controlling wing, The RATS, through the primaries.

A vote for Jeb Bush is a vote for the RAT Party’s candidate.

Constitutional Conservatives need not apply.
