Getting ugly: Why the Trump spousal ‘rape’ story was unfit to print
foxnews.com ^ | Howard Kurtz

Posted on 07/29/2015 3:57:46 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

“On one occasion during 1989, Mr. Trump and I had marital relations in which he behaved very differently toward me than he had during our marriage. As a woman, I felt violated, as the love and tenderness, which he normally exhibited towards me, was absent. I referred to this as a ‘rape,’ but I do not want my words to be interpreted in a literal or criminal sense.”

What a scoop, huh?

Now it would be one thing if Ivana was making this allegation today. Instead, the first Mrs. Trump issued this statement to CNN yesterday:

“The story is totally without merit. Donald and I are the best of friends and together have raised three children that we love and are very proud of. I have nothing but fondness for Donald and wish him the best of luck on his campaign. Incidentally, I think he would make an incredible president.”

That’s the “victim” presented by the story.

I’m sorry, but the piece in the Beast, where I once worked, reads like a hit job calculated to harm Trump. It encapsulates everything that people hate about the media. And I knew even before The Donald went on Greta Van Susteren’s show that he would use it to attack the media, and that his words would resonate.

That is the Prebius RNC smear merchant that Walker quietly hired from his buddy Reince ?

Is this the guy who do the hit on McDaniels in MS that works for Walker.

Walker was ticked off Trump out him as the ultimate Gope when he spread about George Wills wife works for him.

Its does not get any more DC Gop establishment than the Wills ! The entire Walker operation is DC establishment Stealth unit until someone spills the beans on them.

Remember the hiring and then firing of Left wing DC operative Liz Mair .

I think there’s one or two Walker fingerprints on it, too.

Sorry, but I can’t help questioning your motives in RE-running it again under a disingenuous sounding headline. If it was unfit to run in the first place, why would you RE-run it?

Perhaps Megyn, to be “fair & balanced”, should have Camille Paglia on to talk about who will be in the WH with Hillary, if she wins .....

From the website spawned by the news channel that ran with the story like salivating dogs when it came out.

People lie in divorce proceedings every day, and everyone knows it. Nobody cares.

“Maybe Trump’s campaign brought it up to set up another conflict and keep his name in the news.”

That’s stretching it a little bit, don’t you think?

At this point, it would be difficult for Trump to keep his name out of the news, even if he wanted to.

My point was that no speculation as to the initiative behind this non-news eruption can be shown to be either correct or incorrect. All anyone has is assumptions and opinions.

I don’t think either of my proposals is likely, either, but they can’t be proved wrong.

This libel has the mark of the Clinton noise machine all over it -- obviously the move is a preemptive strike regarding bringing up Slick's Cosby-like personal history, and for that matter, Huma's husband's continual idiocies.

Bret Baer Fox Special Report went with this story last night, so Fox has nothing to Brag about STEVE HAYES sunk to a new low by bashing Trump with this story

Stephen Hayes just proved that he has no value as a human being

I have a twitter account that I dont use, it took me a while to figure out how to send Hayes a tweet with my outrage, I managed and I told him what a worthless POS RINO he was

I dont know if people answer tweets, nothing back yet

I think Stephen Hayes will come around. He and Kraut aren't getting who Trump really is.

Trump has always come across as a regular guy because that's how you get deals done...and that's who he is.

But he is also a very clever strategist and he is playing the media and the GOPe.

Kraut needs to do a little psycho-analysis of Trump.

He's a really decent guy.

A lot of people misunderstand Trump. I think Trump even uses that to his advantage.

Hope you are right, I just saw Hayes as we speak on Hannity, seems to be on the defensive.

He is more concerned about Positions Trump has flip flopped on more than he was on Romney, Yes Romney who Hayes and Kraut both threw their support behind a full year before the election, they both dod this on special report in 2011, I watched.

BTW I am concerned about Trumps position on abortion, I just saw him on CNN tonight, I would be more at ease if he would sign a pledge of some sort promising to appoint Conservative Judges and not be open to exceptions.

If he should win the nomination a Cruz VP pick would help in that regard as well. As much as I like Trump I am pretty sure he does not lie awake worrying about the unborn

Sorry I missed your comment here.

I think you are mistaking my intentions.

This article is not spreading a lie, it is exposing a lie for what it is...a deliberate attempt on the part of the media to smear Trump.

When people tell lies about Trump, his modus operandi is to identify the lie, bring it before the public, and then tell the truth about those spreading such lie.

Hiding from a lie is no way to defeat it.

As a former NYer, I have watched Trump for over 35 years and have always been a big supporter.

You are making a mistake about my motives so give it a rest.

For the person who only reads the headline and maybe the first few sentences, all they ever see is the lie; especially when it’s dolled up in a new presentation with a new headline each time it’s recycled.

WADR, if I wanted to KNOCK DOWN a lie, I wouldn’t have a headline and several LEADING sentences that re-flacked the lie again. I believe I’d have a headline like this: TRUMP EX WIFE SAYS RUMOR IS A LIE! And then the lead sentence would be, “Ivana Trump saiys the rumor that Donald mistreated her sexually prior to their divorce is not true. Ivana told the press that she and Trump are the best of friends, that she wishes him well....”

But that would just be silly old me, attempting to actually KNOCK DOWN the rumor, not seemingly fluff it ip, give it a new look and try to give it new legs. Maybe some day I can get suave and sophisticated, too.

Buh-bye.

Meanwhile in Australia, it is not gun crime that perplexes and disgusts most of us, what we find disgusting is the way your media behaves.
It is the microphones and cameras and the scum talking heads using them that need to be controlled.

Hello Freddie and Happy New Year.

That's an old comment, but I can see why you would be disgusted by our media.

That said, Trump has beaten the media about the head and shoulders and they are smarting.

If he wins the General, expect the media to become substantially more honest (or be banished from the White House).
