Donald Trump's Not Slowing Down: He's Up Big in New Hampshire, and Close in Iowa
nationaljournal.com ^ | Emily Schultheis

Posted on 07/26/2015 6:22:41 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Belittling a longtime senator's military service is usually a good way to end a political campaign. In Donald Trump's case, a new set of polls out from NBC/Marist Sunday morning suggest it's not stopping the business mogul's rapid rise in the GOP field.

In New Hampshire, Trump comes in first with 21 percent; his closest competitor is Jeb Bush, who's at 14 percent. Scott Walker comes in third with 12 percent, then John Kasich at 7 percent, Chris Christie and Ben Carson at 6 percent and Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz at 5 percent.

And in Iowa, where Trump made his now-infamous comments about McCain earlier this month, the business mogul comes in a close second to Walker. Walker takes 19 percent in the poll, compared with Trump at 17 percent. They're followed by Bush (12 percent), Carson (8 percent), Huckabee (7 percent) and Rand Paul (5 percent).

The pair of polls were taken just as Trump was questioning McCain's war hero status at a GOP cattle-call event in Iowa. There, his support actually rose (within the margin-of-error) after he made the comments: he was getting 16 percent in the interviews conducted beforehand, compared with 18 percent in the ones done after. (The comments do seem to have hurt him in New Hampshire, though not enough to take him out of first place: he was getting 26 percent in the interviews before his McCain comments, compared with 14 percent afterward.)

Walker is the DC establishment stealth option.

Walker is the idiot who set up Conservative hater / k street whore R Prebius as RNC head.

Prebius is the reason the Gop is now owned by K street and the Chamber.

Walker hired this crazy lefty pro amnesty insider

http://www.mofopolitics.com/2015/03/16/scott-walker-hires-militant-feminazi-liz-mair-for-outreach/

I don't a guy who say he is conservative and then quietly hires this radical amnesty nutter and then when caught fires her.

EPA as a much smaller “agency” would make sense being under the Dept of Interior.

I placed the small amount of DOE remaining in L&C because it's only legitimate function is insuring safe commercial nuclear power plants, which is a commerce issue.

There is no way Kasich is this high in NH nor Cruz so low in IA. Something is amiss with these polls...

I’m not disputing your cabinet picks, and getting rid of HUD and Dept of Indoctrination (only slightly exaggerating).

But any thoughts on Bobby Jindal? I saw him only once in an interview and he seems well spoken and quite knowledgeable. And he talks our language.

It’s disappointing he doesn’t get more air time or ink. He could make a significant contribution I would think.

I used to be a Martinez fan...until she slammed Trump for his stance on illegal immigrants. She jumped on that ridiculous GOPe bandwagon, when she very well could’ve pointed out all of the crimes being committed by ILLEGALS in hew own state.

Oh, yeah—I’m not trying to take away benefits. Just trying to get the feds out of the hospital biz, which they’re apparently and not surprisingly not very good at, as much as possible.

"Walker is the DC establishment stealth option."

He is also close to Ryan.

I follow him on Twitter and some of the things he posts really turns me off. One post was a picture of him with the flight crew of a United flight he took and he said "thanks for taking such good care of row 33."

Row 33 would be in coach so I think he wants people to believe he is just a regular guy.

It just comes off as disingenuous to me.

Without getting to deep in the weeds, I spent a great deal of time last week with a a group of media types ( all disciplines ) about 1/2 were liberal. They had their complaints about Government, one sub-org in particular, but constantly banged the GOP. When I pointed out you complain about this one Dept, but it is all of it don't you see it? I then said everything they touch turns to crap, so send it back to the States or don't do it at all. Occasionally the term "Progressive" would show up, I then told them it is Totalitarianism and or Communism in Drag ( if you can say that now ). But every once and a while someone would speak of the appeal of Libertarianism, and one noted she read Rand at age 10.

Where am I going with this?

Remember when Beck used to talk about Singularity? IMHO it will not be technology and what-ever, it will be singularity of individuals wanting their Liberty back. I saw it, I got some to question this especially the biggest liberal, who said "I don't know what the answer is" When I told him of the Article V movement his response was "What is that?" And he was an Attorney! I gave him the links.

The interesting thing was often my retorts were met with silence and not rebuttal. I wasn't a bully about it, but I get a sense the took it in too process it. In other words, they ain't carrying the E-DNC's water anymore, that is for dang sure.

Who is the catalyst for all this at this moment IMHO?

Oh ya it is The Donald...

He is giving the metaphorical middle finger to the E-GOP, the E-DNC, K-Street, the Enema-Media and all things FUBARD beyond recognition that Disney on the Potomac has done that will make our kids and grand-kids Surfs, and I am loving every minute of it of the comeuppance they are getting.

I don't know if he bags out, goes indy or whatever, but to see him rattle all their cages and give Politcial Correctness da finger as well is just delicious.

In the end he just may change it all up, and again I sense from hanging with these liberals they get it isn't working and something needs to be done, I am hoping they embrace Liberty and not Bernie's folly of more of the same.

Something is happening out their people, maybe America is finally waking up...

Trump also brings those “facts” out at every stump speech.

Still don’t know ultimately what to make of Trump and his run.

I just now read post #13, who spoke of Jindal. That makes my post to you somewhat redundant.

Sorry for the duplicate.

I don't understand how Cruz can have so many small donations but not be higher in the polls.

It’s sad that the only one who is saying the right things is Trump. Let’s be honest. He’s a boob. Im hoping this helps wake up the other candidates to change their tune on illegal immigration. I doubt it though.
