Donald Trump still ahead of the GOP pack: You OK with that? (Poll at source)
al.com ^ | Leada Gore

It turns out the rumors of Donald Trump's demise in the wake of comments about former prisoner of war John McCain were greatly exaggerated.

A new Economist/YouGov poll shows the bombastic billionaire remains on top of the GOP presidential poll. Trump has 28 percent support, followed Jeb Bush at 14 percent, Scott Walker at 13 percent, Ben Carson at 7 percent and Rand Paul at 5 percent.

*snip*

So what's the takeaway? Here's what YouGov said: "There is clearly a core group of registered voters who identify as Republicans that has coalesced around Trump's tough talk and proposals. He is even more clearly in first place than he was two weeks ago when Republicans are asked to choose among the current candidates."

Donald’s base isn’t as fragile as some think. This looks like it is going to make a difference next year.

We don't have polls immediately after the McCain remark, so we don't know if the Donald took a dip as a fallout.

However these new polls showing Trump still on top should tell the media that people are not as dumb or crazy as they like to believe. And a clear warning to them not to fabricate their stories in the future, as backlash towards the perceived victim and against them will be hugh and series.

One more insult of McCain, he’s a lock for the nomination!

Trump is saying some of the things that need to be said. Perhaps he will cause others to address the illegal alien invasion.

These polls are seriously questionable. How does Jeb maintain 14%?

"It turns out the rumors of Donald Trump's demise in the wake of comments about former prisoner of war John McCain were greatly exaggerated."

The Trumpster was exactly right. That tool McCain became a "Hero" by being shot down, captured, and having the crap tortured out of him in the Hanoi Hilton. While I can admire his service and fortitude, he did not proverbially jump on the grenade.

Meanwhile, while McCain has been in public office he has made one disastrous blunder after another. He is the picture next to RINO in the dictionary. If he were any worse as a "public servant" we would have to change the term to "public enemy".

Oh yeah, then there's his daughter. Don't get me started. OOOPS, to late.

Trump shows more backbone every week than most of the GOP leaderhip has shown in the 6 months they have controlled {snicker} both Chambers.

==

Just this week:

Cruz challenged the GOP leadership.

Lee challenged the GOP leadership.

Paul challenged the GOP leadership.

Cotton railed against the SoS, Obama and the Iran deal (or double-dealing).

==

A whiff of rebellion is in the air. McConnell could find his majorityship short-lived.

==

And Trump is about to make another small fortune selling Make America Great Again caps:

Insignificant. Only 164 votes total.

Nothing can be said about the results of a poll like this.

No undocumented Democrats are ahead of the GOP pack: I’m OK with that...

How it works:

Media lies about “comments” creates false narrative and false outrage.

They get someone on mic agreeing with their false narrative

Then the media ask the GOP candidate what they think about the bad things people are saying about them as if it is a majority of Americans when it isn't a majority, it is a handful who bought the false narrative. All you have to do is call them out on it and they fold. Trump is the first I've seen do it and do it consistantly.

I love Trump but sure would like to see Cruz in that top tier! He really deserves it.

The anger of a lot of people at Obama and Congress and the media transitioned into downright depression and hopelessness. Many of us thought that this country was just lost.

What Trump has done that makes his voter support so incredibly durable no matter what he says is that he has returned our hope that we might just make it.

That hope converts our depression back into anger and that anger causes voters to stick with Trump no matter what. We want revenge.

We all want to tell Obama and Congress and the press "YOU'RE EFFING FIRED!"

I’m ok with Trump/Cruz 2016.
Trump is not a purist conservative but he would be a vast improvement with Cruz in the on deck circle to succeed him after 4 years.
