Mayor de Blasio is a big fan of presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders — because the Vermont senator is a proud “Democratic socialist.”

Why this doofus is given any kind of attention or credibility in politics today is beyond me. People thought I was joking when I said Anthony Weiner would have made a better Mayor than this guy and I was proven right a 1000 times over. A freakin’ eggplant would have been a better Mayor, to call this guy a disaster from hell is putting it mildly.

He’s being very honest about his love of socialism. Putting the word democrat in front of it changes nothing. New Yorkers, do you now realize what you have elected to do?
I heard nothing about mass voter fraud during that mayoral race.
A redundancy
There aren’t many Americans left in NYC with roots going back more than one or two generations; anyone who has been there can see it is a very foreign city. The evacuation of middle-class Americans that started in the 1960s was practically complete within a decade or two.
Regardless of whatever term DeBlasio might use to describe himself, it wouldn't be an error to call him a communist, as his past travel history (to Castro's Cuba and to Nicaragua to aid the Sandinistas) strongly suggests. It's just that the terms "Democratic socialist" or "progressive" are considerably less toxic in American politics today than "communist."

Great way to keep the “proles” ignorant. After all, Lenin had nice buzzwords like “Democratic centralism” to describe his no-separation-of-powers one-party-state totalitarianism.
New York City always had many immigrants, 100 years ago, it was populated mostly by Eastern Europeans.
Sure; as a port it was an entry point, and the first generation toiled so the second could assimilate. That concept is gone now; many of the residents don’t work at all, and successive generations aren’t assimilated.
