In a new push toward gun control, the Obama administration wants to bar certain individuals receiving Social Security benefits from owning firearms if they are deemed no longer able to handle their affairs.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the White House wants the Social Security Administration to weed out beneficiaries who cannot manage their affairs because of what federal gun laws label “marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease” and then report those individuals to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS).

Established in 1993, the background check system is used to prevent certain dangerous individuals — criminals, drug addicts, illegal immigrants, domestic abusers and others — from obtaining firearms.

Obama is trying to make the world safer for his criminal thug “sons”.

You know from the media how they love to attack elderly whites.

The problem is, there are NO adequate laws to deal with mental incompetency, regarding lethal weapons.
Either temporary or permanently.

According to our laws, prior restraint of mentally ill people is “unfair”.

One has to wait before the dangerous bi-polar or dementia sufferer has actually acted and harmed someone, before any steps to protect the people they “merely threaten”, can be taken.
OTOH, a convicted nonviolent felon who has already served out their sentence, is forever barred from legally possessing a weapon.

Frankly, I much prefer that your demented elderly Aunt, or mentally disturbed young nephew be automatically barred from owning lethal weapons.
And the sane ex-con, who has served his sentence, and has been returned to society, have his 2nd Amendment right restored.

Damn good point and one that should be a priority. Long live the 2nd A and short the unknown fool of foreign extraction - per his own biographical sketch used for 16 years.

We agree, but the problem I see is that a blanket indictment of one’s mental state doesn’t necessarily hinge on having someone do your banking for you. There has to be more to the process before someone’s constitutional rights are infringed. A person needs to be able to prove their competency and not just have some bureaucrat stop by for your guns.

It's another diversion that has nothing to do with mental competence of those receiving government benefits - it's a test bed to see if they can remove constitutional rights from folks because the government is giving them something.

If this were to fly, then all constitutional rights are down the toilet because there's nobody that doesn't some way "receive" from Uncle Sugar.

Social Security is broke. The government intends to euthanize/eldercide everyone over 65, but first they must be disarmed.

Bad enough our daily meds are just shoved in our unprotected, damp, hot mailbox. With kids swarming our neighborhood and thieves out there. We are Ret. Military over 65 and were DOD MANDATED to get our daily meds from the mail order FRAUD committing Express Scripts or use a Military base dispensary. ES just sends Thousands of $$ retail meds in a plastic bag shoved in your mailbox. It will take a new law from the US Congress to change this stupid procedure when it is a DOD ORDER. DOD has the power to require a Photo ID.

Big Pharma’s drugs are already doing a good job of eliminating the elderly. Drug Merry-go-round. First drug creates the need for #2, that creates the need for the other 10 or more. Until they kill you.
