D.C. police have arrested two people in connection with a sex trafficking ring authorities say involved several underage girls who were forced to work out of an apartment in Southeast Washington.
The arrests came after the mother of a 14-year-old girl went to police in May. Police said in a court affidavit that up to seven girls, many of them under the age of 18, were prostituting out of an apartment in the 3800 block of South Capitol Street SE.
Police said they enlisted the help of the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force and uncovered several advertisements placed on a Web site called backpage.com.
Jarnese Harris, 28, was arrested on a warrant Thursday and charged with sex trafficking of children.
Police arrested Daraya Marshall, 35, on June 29 and charged him with first-degree child sex abuse, pandering, sex trafficking of children and distribution of marijuana.

This was my first post on the matter, and this article was the first time I had ever heard of any of the people involved.
My expressed concern for the victims brought ire and an unrelenting insistence that I should be more overwrought over the highschool kid rather than the preteens he was groping which continued unabated for several threads.
But my focus remained unwaveringly on the victims.
The predator was beyond the statute of limitations when this hit the media.. Had the young man gotten proper counseling at the time he might have been taught to understand how lasting the damage from early unwanted sexual contact can be and attempted more sincere restitution then. As it is he and his family are now embroiled in thoroughly earned civil litigation.
This is horrible. Just horrible.
