EXCLUSIVE: Scott Walker is NOT against gay marriage, say same-sex friends of GOP hopeful who was guest at their 'joyous' wedding reception - despite his pledge to amend constitution to 'one man, one woman'

This is Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, pictured at the wedding reception of one of the first gay couples to marry in his state – who told Daily Mail Online today that they do not believe the presidential hopeful is against same-sex marriage.

He smiled with the newlyweds at their reception, which came weeks after a judge struck down an amendment to the state constitution defining marriage as between a man and a woman - a move the governor vowed to overturn.

On June 6, 2014, a federal judge ruled in favor of a lawsuit challenging a 2006 amendment to Wisconsin's constitution, after a public vote, which defined marriage as between one man and one woman.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb said Wisconsin's ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional, prompting a rush of same-sex couples getting wedding licenses.

Among the first to marry were Shelli Marquardt and Cathy Priem who married on June 9 at a civil courthouse ceremony in Waukesha County.

Scott Walker favors traditional marriage, despite what this article claims. However, he also favors following the law. Make of it what you will.

People are not legally barred from marrying others of the same sex, or horses or doorposts or comic book characters, or Grandma, for that matter. What’s at issue is whether those relationships should be sanctified by the State, and whether other individuals should be forced by the State to recognize them as “marriages” and participate in their rituals, contrary to their own faith.

.

Many American Christians will eventually wrestle with this issue, especially if a family relative gets married in a homosexual "marriage".

I choose in advance to NOT attend the sham wedding.

Strength and Honor ...

It doesn’t matter.

There are no where near the votes for any Constitutional amendment.

The best we can do is play defense on religious freedom.

Governor Walker's solution, amending the Constitution, is an impossible task, and he must know it. You need a two thirds majority of Congress, and the Republican majorities in both houses of Congress are nowhere near that large. You would then need three fourths of the states to approve it. There are 11 Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. Name me one, other than Pennsylvania, where that would happen. There are five West Coast states. Other than Alaska, none would ratify the amendment. That makes 14 states, not even counting Illinois or Minnesota, which would not ratify that amendment. 34 or 36 states do not equal the 38 needed.

Only limiting the authority of the Supreme Court will work to prevent future abuse, as well as directing the Justice Department by either act of Congress or executive order not to pursue civil or criminal cases where states and localities refuse to issue licenses of same sex couples or recognize those issued by states or localities that do so.

Walker has clearly said before he attended a same-sex marriage in his own family. He is on record saying that.

So did he go to the Wedding or just the Reception??

http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/19/politics/scott-walker-2016-election-gay-marriage/index.html

“Even though my position on marriage is still that its defined as between a man and a woman, and I support the constitution of the state but for someone I love, we’ve been to a reception,” he said at the end of the GOP Summit in New Hampshire.

Walker was asked if he would attend a same-sex wedding after finishing his remarks at a dinner in Nashua, New Hampshire — a key primary state in the upcoming presidential election.

Walker responded by saying it is a “personal issue” and cited the fact that the reception he went to was for a family member.

1. Why is he at a homosexual wedding of ANY kind?

2. Why does he have homosexual “friends”?

He is creeping into the jbush territory.

What a stupid article.

So, if a person feels being "unfaithful's" a bad idea... then they can't attend a re-marriage" ?

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

This is more of that liberal crap that says 'IF you're not totally perfect you can't disagree with anything immoral...

The standard liberal lowlifes have for themselves is 'anything goes'.

The standard liberal lowlifes hold us to is total perfection.

Face it, liberals are little manipulative sh*ts.

Here's my philosophy.

Civil unions- fine. Don't expect God to bless their relationship.

Marriages- NO. There are too many laws that use the term “marriage” to qualify situations where children are concerned. Two child molesters could marry with the intent to adopt children to molest. Possibly this happens in one man-one woman marriages as well, but probably not to the extent possible with gay marriage.

“There are no where near the votes for any Constitutional amendment.

You are absolutely right, but that requires admitting that we’ve lost the country. The amount of willful blindness and lying to ourselves is staggering; if we’re not honest about where we are we won’t even be able to salvage that.
