The Gallup organization reported its latest findings on party identification late last week, and the report contained good news for the Democrats and a flashing yellow for Republicans.
The Democrats have regained an advantage over the GOP in party affiliation, Gallups Jeffrey M. Jones wrote in an accompanying analysis. Republicans, he added, have seemingly lost the momentum they had going into last falls elections.
The current numbers dont mean Republicans cant win the White House in 2016. The Democrats advantage is not as large as at other points in the past, for example. But the findings add to a series of data points that underscore the challenges ahead for a party trying to keep pace with a rapidly changing country.
The latest numbers essentially mark a reset that returns party affiliation to its modern historical norm. Democrats long have enjoyed the advantage over Republicans in Gallups measures.
In those few periods when the GOP drew even or slightly ahead (after Republicans took control of Congress in 1994 or after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001), the party has been unable to hold that ground for long.

Wonder how the GOPe likes this? Or are they happy because they’d rather let the rats do their dirty work while they pretend to not like it.
Clintonian self-fulfilling fake polls again.
No doubt, can anyone say “propaganda?”
I imagine all the RINOs would seek comfort in the arms of their masters.
Cruz speaks for me. I like Trumps straight talk as well, but I don’t see him in the White Hut. Buts it’s good to see some straight talkers out there. It’s been too long.
I know you could...
LOL
The only way this would be news from the Washington Post is if they reported that there were ANY Republicans. From their lofty view high above the real world, NOBODY votes Republican.
A glance at the writer’s name tells me the article is total bullsh*t.
Direct correlation with illegal immigrunts filling up the voter rolls.
DING DING DING!!!! First correct answer!! today’s big winner.
its a pile of dog do...but really , who cares....if the elections are fixed what does it matter....and if so called conservative patriots don’t even bother to vote, it doesn’t matter at all....
Hohum!
More bs from the post
The media libs have two templates that they alternate between:
1. The wheels are coming off the Republican bus and unless they change course immediately, they’re doomed to defeat.
2. The Republicans have their act together and, thus, the republic is in danger.
An ironclad rule for “journalists” is to never mention margin of error when a poll confirms their fondest wishes (and provides grist for the column writing mill).
They only want what’s best for the GOP.
Excellent points that should be posted whenever any lib bs is posted on FR!
Gallup remains the top JOKE.
If they had offered a third choice: “independent” or “none of the above”...
It wouldn’t be a silly, useless poll.
Lie.
They will take it as a sign to move even further left.
Same people who said the repubs might not win the senate
