Washington Post: Voters are shifting to Democrats, flashing a warning for Republicans
Washington Post ^ | 07/06/2015 | Dan Balz

Posted on 07/06/2015 3:01:36 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

The Gallup organization reported its latest findings on party identification late last week, and the report contained good news for the Democrats and a flashing yellow for Republicans.

The Democrats “have regained an advantage” over the GOP in party affiliation, Gallup’s Jeffrey M. Jones wrote in an accompanying analysis. Republicans, he added, “have seemingly lost the momentum they had going into last fall’s elections.”

The current numbers don’t mean Republicans can’t win the White House in 2016. The Democrats’ advantage is not as large as at other points in the past, for example. But the findings add to a series of data points that underscore the challenges ahead for a party trying to keep pace with a rapidly changing country.

The latest numbers essentially mark a reset that returns party affiliation to its modern historical norm. Democrats long have enjoyed the advantage over Republicans in Gallup’s measures.

In those few periods when the GOP drew even or slightly ahead (after Republicans took control of Congress in 1994 or after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001), the party has been unable to hold that ground for long.

I call BS on this article. I know several Democrats who will be voting Republican in the next election cycle. It’s hard to imagine this isn’t also the fact across the country.

After all, the D party is the party of DEM-o-gogues. And sheep can be influenced by lots of noise. Orwell was a visionary.

“Democrats long have enjoyed the advantage over Republicans in Gallup’s measures.”

Gee, I wonder why.

Most people are unable to connect the creeping socialism with to why things are so crappy in the country.

I always want to know who do these pollsters poll and where are these polls conducted. Sure, if you ask people in a predominantly liberal metropolis like New York, you will most likely get more people voting Democrat. Do these pollsters ever ask residents of flyover country? I’ll bet they would get a much different answer.

Why wouldn’t voters move toward the Dems? They are clearly winning the game. Why, even the GOP supports everything they want!

Ted Cruz has pointed out that the media/pols don’t feel that people in flyover country have legitimate opinions or concerns.

I expect those identifying as Republican are decreasing because supporting Republicans and electing Republicans has proven to make no real difference in the past three national elections, even after giving Republicans control of both houses of Congress.

Why would anyone stick with GOP politicians who repeatedly make promises before elections and break them the day after they are elected?

When democrats promise to screw taxpayers and give free stuff to loafers and illegals they keep their promises.

Exactly right. It’s only going to get worse as the conservative base ages and starts to die out.

In other news the Washington Post is predicting that George McGovern will win the 1972 election in a landslide.

I would be one of them.

I called the national GOP headquarters, left my name and telephone number and told them exactly why I was through with the GOP. (it was due to a couple of GOP reps discussing raising gasoline taxes, only they called it a “usage fee”) As I said in my message, these idiots shouldn’t even be talking about a tax increase.

I then sent in the paperwork and had my name removed from GOP voter registration.

Realistically, I should have done it years ago.

If Republicans behave like Democrats (and they have), why do we need TWO parties?

I am not sure there’s been no real difference. If anything, there’s been more of that fabulous bipartisanship our President loves so much.

[[Most people are unable to connect the creeping socialism with to why things are so crappy in the country.]]

Which doesn’t speak well of the intellect of the country- it’s not hard to figure out- higher taxes = lower takehome pay = owning less, not more = less opportunity for our kids

Bigger government = more laws = less rights = oppression

amazing that them asses still believe the lies that if they just vote democrat, they will get all kinds of free shtuff from the gubmint
