US blocks attempts by Arab allies to fly heavy weapons directly to Kurds to fight Islamic State

The United States has blocked attempts by its Middle East allies to fly heavy weapons directly to the Kurds fighting Islamic State jihadists in Iraq, The Telegraph has learnt. Some of America’s closest allies say President Barack Obama and other Western leaders, including David Cameron, are failing to show strategic leadership over the world’s gravest security crisis for decades. They now say they are willing to “go it alone” in supplying heavy weapons to the Kurds, even if means defying the Iraqi authorities and their American backers, who demand all weapons be channelled through Baghdad. High level officials from Gulf and other states have told this newspaper that all attempts to persuade Mr Obama of the need to arm the Kurds directly as part of more vigorous plans to take on Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) have failed. The Senate voted down one attempt by supporters of the Kurdish cause last month. The officials say they are looking at new ways to take the fight to Isil without seeking US approval.

“If the Americans and the West are not prepared to do anything serious about defeating Isil, then we will have to find new ways of dealing with the threat,” said a senior Arab government official. “With Isil making ground all the time we simply cannot afford to wait for Washington to wake up to the enormity of the threat we face.”

According to article, all arms are supposed to go through Baghdad, which only seems capable of losing battles and weaponry.

Obama turns his back on Kurds, turns down Arab states who want to arm the Kurds — just one more failure on the strategy front against ISIS.

the point is obvious, he wants ISIS to expand and grow stronger and stronger and bigger and bigger (and Iran to finish its ICBM nuclear bomb arsenal, of course)

Obama is a jerk. If he’s a Sunni sympathizer, he’s groveling for Erdogan. If he’s a Shiite sympathizer, or just currying short-term favor with the Iranians to complete some ludicrous pretense of a nuke deal, he’s a groveling idiot. Or, maybe he just doesn’t like the Kurds.

Iran and Turkey do not want the Kurds becoming too powerful. They have made their interests known to their hireling, VJ. She has directed her puppet to make the appropriate blocking moves.

Because some very stupid people elected lesser evils instead of Americans that cared about their country and we will pay the price for their actions.

I think the real issue is the Iraqis don’t want the Kurds to have heavy arms that they don’t control because of the long term likelihood that they will eventually break away and make their own country. The Turks are likely in it as well.

It doesn’t hurt Obies wants what he wants as well - but ...

Kurds are the only ones who can stop ISIS.

So if you want to loose to ISIS, you must stop the Kurds.

The fix is in.

It seems obvious that there are highly placed traitors in the US government and that Obama isn’t working alone.

The Department of State has done everything in its power for decades to undermine the United States. By Department of State, I am referring to the employees thereof. The CIA is another one. Jimmy Carter spent four years undermining the United States.

With Iran dominating the Baghdad government, the Kurds already have their de facto state. We should support them. They are the only people who seem capable of defeating ISIS.

Any heavy equipment we ship to Baghdad will just end up in the hands of the Shiite militia.
